This Tuesday, the Superior Court of Sports Justice (STJD) acted rigorously against Atlético-GO, suspending striker Luiz Fernando, president Adson Batista and employee Paulo Marcos, known for wearing the skin of the team's mascot. club, for disrespecting the refereeing during the match against Flamengo, valid for the debut in Série A of the Brasileirão. The trial, based on article 243-F of the Brazilian Code of Sports Justice (CBJD), resulted in severe penalties for those involved.

Luiz Fernando received a four-game suspension, in addition to a fine of R$2,000, while President Adson Batista was punished with 30 days of suspension and a fine of R$10,000. Paulo Marcos was also suspended for 30 days. These penalties directly impact Atlético-GO's performance in the next matches, as Luiz Fernando will be left out of the next matches against Vitória, Corinthians, Fluminense and Criciúma.
WHAT WILL HAPPEN FROM NOW onwards

Despite the punishments, the club intends to appeal the STJD's decisions. The expectation is that there will be a review of the penalties or, at least, a reduction in the suspensions imposed on those involved.

In addition to the trio initially mentioned, four other members of Atlético-GO were also tried: coach Jair Ventura, defender Alix Vinícius, right-back Maguinho and goalkeeper coach Cláudio Cerqueira. Jair and Alix received one-match suspensions, which have already been served, while Maguinho was acquitted. Goalkeeper trainer Cerqueira, in turn, caught a game of hook.

The performance of Atlético-GO in the Brasileirão does not meet the expectations of the club and its fans. In five games played, the team has not yet won any victory, gaining just one point and occupying 19th place in the league table. The pressure on the team is evident, and the need for a turnaround in results becomes urgent.

Pedro is the main scorer in Brazilian football in the 2024 season. Since arriving at Flamengo, coach Tite chose to use the number 9 as the only striker in the area, leaving Gabigol on the bench. Thus, Michel Bastos, former player, advised Gabriel Barbosa to leave the red-and-black club due to lack of playing time.

“The club that signs Gabigol will make a great signing. Now, at Flamengo, he won’t play, because Pedro is the best center forward in Brazil”, said Michel Bastos. The former player, who played for the Brazilian national team, commented on the subject during an 'ESPN' program.

GABIGOL'S SITUATION

Gabigol lives the worst moment since his arrival at Flamengo. This is because the center forward lost space with Jorge Sampaoli, in 2023. With the arrival of Tite, the player remained among the reserves. However, the situation worsened in 2024, when number 99 was suspended from football after being framed for attempted fraud in anti-doping tests.

In addition, Gabigol was seen wearing the Corinthians shirt last Thursday- fair (17), generating revolt from red and black fans on social media and in the stands. Therefore, as punishment, Flamengo removed the center forward's number 10 and deducted 10% of his salary.

ATTACKERS' NUMBERS

Pedro is the team's main scorer Brazilian football in 2024. The number 9 found the net on 17 occasions in 23 games played. In addition, he provided two assists. On the other hand, Gabigol only scored two goals and did not make any passes to his teammates this season.

NEXT GAME

With Pedro and Gabigol available, Flamengo faces Amazonas this Wednesday (22), at 9:30 pm (Brasília time), at Arena da Amazônia, in Manaus. The match is valid for the return match of the third phase of the Copa do Brasil.

Next Wednesday (22), Flamengo will face Amazonas in the third phase of the Copa do Brasil. After a narrow 1-0 victory at Maracanã, the team led by Tite travels to Manaus in search of qualifying for the round of 16 of the competition.

Reunion of the duo Fabrício Bruno and Léo Ortiz

One of the highlights of the match could be the reunion of a defense duo well known in Brazilian football: Fabrício Bruno and Léo Ortiz. The last time they played together frequently was in 2021, when they played 41 matches for the same team, recording 24 wins, 8 draws and suffering 9 defeats, with a total of 15 games without conceding goals.

That season , the duo contributed significantly to their team reaching runner-up in the Copa Sudamericana, where Athletico Paranaense ended up taking the title.

Possible debut for the duo at Flamengo Although Fabrício Bruno and Léo Ortiz have already played together at Flamengo, this could be the first time they start a match side by side as starters in the team's defense. The opportunity arises due to Léo Pereira's injury, opening space for Léo Ortiz to start the match. David Luiz is another option for the defense, but the tendency is for Tite to opt for Ortiz.

Changes in the starting lineup

Coach Tite has been designing a different team than the red and black fans are used to seeing it. In goal, Matheus Cunha should return to the starting lineup, part of the player rotation strategy that Tite adopts for different competitions. The lineup should be finalized in the next training sessions, but the expectation is that Flamengo will enter the field with maximum strength to guarantee their place in the round of 16 of the Copa do Brasil.

In a recent interview with the Mundo GV podcast, the football vice-president of Flamengo, Marcos Braz, addressed several controversial issues involving the match against Atlético-GO, highlighting the situation on the pitch at the Serra Dourada Stadium and refuting the accusations made by the president of the club from Goiás.

Braz started the conversation by commenting on the condition of the pitch on which the match took place. According to him, there was a technical inspection carried out by the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF), which concluded that the game could be held on that field. This assessment, according to the vice-president, was considered sufficient to guarantee the safety of the athletes and the viability of the match. BRAZ DETONATES ACCUSATIONS MADE TO FLAMENGO

The accusations made by the president of Atlético-GO were treated seriously by Braz, who considered them serious and requiring concrete evidence. The red-and-black director highlighted some moments from the game to refute the allegations made by the Goiás club's manager. He specifically cited an incident involving the player Bruno Henrique, where he pointed out that there was physical contact that resulted in injuries, highlighting that similar situations resulted in expulsions in international competitions.

Marcos Braz expressed his concern regarding the possible repercussions of the accusations made by the president of Atlético-GO, fearing that Flamengo will be harmed in the future due to possible pressure from arbitration. He highlighted that, despite what was stated by the opposing leader, there were no benefits for Flamengo during the game in question, classifying the match as "strange".
