Flamengo is going through a period considered one of the best in its history, with a competitive squad and strong preparation fueling expectations for new titles. Off the field, the board has also distinguished itself with solid financial planning , achieving a surplus and opening up space for bold negotiations in the market.

According to information released by journalist Jorge Nicola, a group of investors from the United States, Spain, and Colombia presented the club with a multi-billion dollar project estimated at R$4 billion. The proposal encompasses the construction of a stadium, a shopping mall, a hotel, and a parking garage. To date, at least four meetings have taken place between investor representatives and Luiz Eduardo Baptista , the executive leading the negotiations.

URBAS GROUP PARTICIPATES IN THE PROJECT

According to the investigation, the business model foresees that 100% of the costs will be assumed by the partners , including Grupo Urbas, a Spanish company responsible for the construction of the América de Cali stadium in Colombia.

The revenue-sharing format was also presented: Flamengo would keep all the profits from soccer matches at the new stadium , while events such as concerts, basketball matches, or American football would receive a revenue share. In this case, investors would retain the majority of the proceeds for the first 15 years of operation.

ABOUT THAT...

Rubro-Negro will only return to the field on September 14th to face Juventude, at 4 pm , at Alfredo Jaconi, for the 23rd round of the Brasileirão. Immediately after, they have an important commitment against Estudiantes, for the Libertadores , on the 18th.

Even with an advanced agreement, the sale of Matheus Gonçalves to Al-Ahli may not materialize. The obstacle lies in the payment method proposed by the Saudi club , which creates uncertainty about the future of the 20-year-old attacking midfielder.

According to Flazoeiro and Flabase, a European club has also entered the fray, intending to make a move on the Jeddah team . Given this new opportunity, the player is reportedly reconsidering his plans and expressing a preference for European football. Saudi Arabia's transfer window closes on September 10th.

OFFER EXCEEDS INTEREST FROM CRUZEIRO AND CSKA

Al-Ahli's offer is valued at between €8 and €9 million (R$50 to €57 million), higher than previous offers . CSKA had offered €7 million (R$44 million), but negotiations failed. Cruzeiro offered €3.5 million (R$22 million) for 50% of the player's rights, but Flamengo backed down and kept the player on the roster.

TRAJECTORY AT FLAMENGO

Discovered by Ninho do Urubu, Matheus Gonçalves has played 54 games and scored six goals for the senior team since 2022. Despite his promising reputation and collective achievements, the youngster has failed to establish himself in the senior squad. In 2023, he was loaned to Red Bull Bragantino and, on several occasions, returned to the U-20s to maintain his match fitness.

His most recent highlight was Flamengo's U-20 World Cup victory over Barcelona at the Maracanã . However, in the final, the midfielder didn't perform well and missed one of the red-and-black team's penalty kicks.
