Flamengo remotely revived their hope of winning the title after triumphs against Cruzeiro and Vasco, but the 3-2 defeat to Grêmio represented a heavy blow. Furthermore, the way in which this defeat occurred made red and black fans face a discouraging statistic: among the clubs in Serie A, Flamengo is the second one that suffered the most upsets in 2023, totaling a painful record of seven matches in which the situation was reversed.
