The decision to remove shirt number 10 from Gabigol was received with surprise by many. After all, the player is a fundamental part of the red and black squad and his number is almost as iconic as his performance on the field. For Flamengo fans, seeing their main striker wearing another shirt, especially from a rival club, was something unusual and caused discomfort.

This rule aims to maintain uniformity and clarity during the competition, avoiding confusion for both referees and fans.
Therefore, despite all the controversy, Gabigol will return to the field wearing the number 10 shirt. of the player with this number is a regulatory requirement, regardless of the club's internal decisions.

Honest about his time at Flamengo , former midfielder Denílson admitted that he didn't succeed at the club due to a lack of dedication . According to him, in addition to having "failed too much", the player also didn't "value his own brand" and failed to achieve an important status at Rubro-Negro.
Denílson arrived at Flamengo in 2000 , surrounded by expectations after being loaned by Betis-ESP — where he became an idol. However, he only made 17 appearances for the club and returned to Spain.
"It was [the biggest disappointment], because today, with all the discernment I have, I made too many mistakes. Flamengo had all the problems with structure and management, but my role was to represent it. Today, I understand that I was always a brand and, in this short period at Flamengo, I didn't value my brand," he told "ge".
Over the course of these 17 games, Denílson scored four goals: against Universidad de Chile, Goiás, Bahia and Sport. He also received a red card against Vélez Sarsfield-ARG, in the Mercosul Cup, but that was it: "I didn't value Denilson as an athlete. I played, I transferred my responsibility to a bureaucratic issue , to a lack of responsibility on the part of a board of directors. I outsourced it" , he pointed out.
At the time, Flamengo was experiencing a series of internal problems and even basic organizational problems within the board. In other times, Denílson believes that, if he had endured the difficulties and made an effort, he could have had a completely different status in the red-and-black imagination.
"I had signed a two-year contract and stayed for six months. If I dedicated myself and played in those six months, today Flamengo fans would look at me differently , just like Palmeiras fans look at me," he said.
After his time at Flamengo, Denílson would only play for a Brazilian club again in 2008, when he signed with Palmeiras. More experienced, he dedicated himself and managed to represent the São Paulo team in 55 games, in the only season he was there.
" I went to Palmeiras earning a normal salary . If I'm not mistaken, I was the first to sign a productivity contract, but I already had a clear idea of my career, I dedicated myself 100%" , he pointed out.
Finally, Denílson once again emphasized that he does not see Flamengo as to blame for the fact that the transfer did not work out. For the current commentator, the only one to blame is him.
"At Flamengo, I didn't dedicate myself. The club is not to blame for anything, the blame for this period not working out is all mine" , concluded Denílson.
In addition to Flamengo, Betis and Palmeiras, Denílson played for São Paulo — the team that revealed him to football —, Bordeaux-FRA, Al Nassr-SAU, Dallas-UAE, Itumbiara, Hai Phong-VNM and Kavala-GRE.
