After Bahia's elimination in the Copa do Brasil with a 1-0 defeat to Mais Querido, Rogério Ceni achieved his 14th defeat in 14 games against CRF as coach, maintaining a 0% record in clashes with red-black club. In a press conference after the match, Ceni commented on the negative mark and justified the unfavorable performance, highlighting that the majority of duels took place from 2019 onwards, a period in which Flamengo went through a strengthening process. < br>

"FLAMENGO HAS BEEN STRENGTHENED A LOT", SAYS CENI

When asked about the history of defeats, the Bahia coach pointed out the strengthening of the squad red-black in recent years as one of the reasons for the retrospect. “I practically only faced Flamengo from 2019 onwards, when the team got a lot stronger. It's a strong team, with quality and a good squad”, said Ceni.

Ceni also commented on the matches in which, in his view, his team played better, but ended up defeated due to details. He cited as an example the first game of this year's Copa do Brasil and the first round match of the Brazilian Championship. "We had clear chances to win, but we lost in the details."

The coach mentioned some matches in which his team had good performances against Mengão, but ended up defeated. “With São Paulo, we finished 26 times compared to 7 at Morumbi, but we lost in the Copa do Brasil”, he recalled. Regarding the current season, he highlighted the Brazilian Cup and the clash for the Brasileirão, when defender David Luiz scored Flamengo's winning goal in the final minutes. "These are coincidences in life. One day we will be able to strengthen ourselves and win this confrontation", he stated optimistically.

THE MOST IMPORTANT TITLE OF THEIR CAREER AT FLAMENGO

Interestingly, the club that defeated Ceni the most as a coach was also responsible for giving him the most important title of his career: the 2020 Brazilian Championship. In addition to the Brasileirão, the coach also won the Carioca Championship and the Brazilian Super Cup under the command of Mengão, in a remarkable spell at Gávea.
