Signed with great expectations and as the most expensive signing in Flamengo's history, Argentine midfielder Carlos Alcaraz arrived at the Rio de Janeiro club surrounded by optimism. However, his performance on the field fell short of expectations and, after approval from coach Filipe Luís, the player was loaned to Everton in England.
Recently, information released by the MundoBolaFlamengo portal indicated that Alcaraz had reached the contractual goals that would make his purchase mandatory , in a deal valued at R$116 million. The news indicated that the agreement between the clubs was close to being sealed.
Despite the news, both Flamengo and the player's representatives denied that the targets for mandatory purchase have been reached . The club has maintained a calm stance, indicating that, even if Everton does not exercise the purchase option, other European football teams have already shown interest in signing the Argentine.
Carlos Alcaraz , in turn, has shown satisfaction with his experience in English football. According to his representatives, the player has adapted to Everton and is positive about the possibility of remaining in the Premier League, regardless of the club in question.
Journalist Paul Joyce, from the renowned British newspaper The Times, revealed that there are negotiations between Everton and Flamengo to define the midfielder's future. Although the Rio de Janeiro club has not revealed the terms of the loan, sources close to the journalist indicate that the agreement for the permanent transfer has not yet been formalized.
With two players less, Mengão's match was conditioned and the team lost its unbeaten streak against Tricolor and lost the lead in the Brazilian Championship.

Everton are looking for a top center forward and consider Gabriel Jesus the ideal candidate to lead their rebuild. Arsenal, however, aren't going to make things easy: the London club is asking £30 million (approximately R$217 million) for the player's release . Despite the high price, the Toffees aren't ruling out a move, as long as the striker agrees to adjust his salary terms.
In Brazil, Flamengo is monitoring the situation remotely. The board believes that a proposal would only be possible if the player's fees were significantly reduced or if Arsenal changed its stance, as it has so far ruled out any loan offer and insisted on a permanent sale.
Gabriel Jesus earns approximately £13.7 million per season, equivalent to R$99 million annually, or about R$8.2 million per month . This salary level is unaffordable for almost all clubs outside of Europe's elite. Everton is considering moving forward only if the striker agrees to a salary reduction, as they cannot match Arsenal's current pay.
