The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) announced, this Monday (22), the dates and times of the games between Flamengo and Palmeiras, in the round of 16 of the Copa do Brasil. The clashes take place on two Wednesdays – July 31st and August 7th – at 8pm (Brasília time). SEE DAYS AND TIMES OF FLAMENGO'S GAMES IN THE ROUND OF THE ROUND OF THE BRAZIL CUP

07/08 – Palmeiras x Flamengo – 8pm – Allianz Parque

Last Friday (19), the CBF drew the matches and the order of field commands. Thus, it was decided that Flamengo will be the home team in the first leg, on July 31st, and will play as a visitor on August 7th, at Allianz Parque. The time of both clashes is 'unusual' for Mengão's knockout duels, after all, it will be at 8 pm (Brasília time), and not the traditional 9:30 pm. b>

Another situation that does not usually happen in Flamengo games is the issue of transmission. The games will not be shown on Open TV. Therefore, Amazon Prime streaming will show the duel. Thus, Globo, the open TV that holds the broadcasting rights, will show Atlético-GO x Vasco and Corinthians x Grêmio. It is important to highlight that SporTV and Premiere can also show the Copa do Brasil. However, Amazon Prime won the duel behind the scenes to show Flamengo x Palmeiras.

DUEL RULES

Just like in recent years, whoever scores the most goals in the sum of the two games they advance to the quarter-finals, without the criterion of an away goal in case of a draw. If there is equality, the classified will be defined in a penalty shootout. This will be the third clash between Flamengo and Palmeiras in the history of the Copa do Brasil, with a classification for each side. Rubro-Negro came out on top in the 1997 semi-finals, while the São Paulo team got their revenge in the 1999 quarter-finals.

Before thinking about Palmeiras, Flamengo has two more commitments for the Brazilian Championship. On Wednesday (24), Rubro-Negro will go to Salvador to face Vitória. On Sunday (28), Tite's team faces Atlético-GO, at Maracanã.

Carlinhos' performance in the last classic between Flamengoand Vasco, played on Sunday, has generated a wave of criticism and questions from the red and black fans. The striker, who entered the field in the 18th minute of the second half, replacing Bruno Henrique, played a discreet role and ended up failing to help the team in one of the most decisive moments of the match.

The classic, as always, was a game intense and highly anticipated by both fans, with great weight for the championship table and the morale of the teams. However, Carlinhos' entry, which lasted just 27 minutes, was considered below expectations, especially in a scenario where Flamengo was looking for a victory to distance itself from its rivals.

FLAMENGO HAS A DEFICIENCY IN THE CHAMPIONSHIP < /b>

During the 27 minutes he was on the field, Carlinhos barely appeared, failing to influence the game as expected. The player only touched the ball a few times, did not create clear scoring chances and also did not help efficiently in the defensive system. With an apathetic performance, the striker ended up becoming a target of frustration for the fans, who expected more from a player who, at other times, had already demonstrated the potential to be decisive.

The lack of offensive participation was a of the main points raised by critics. In a game that required creativity and boldness to break through the Vasco blockade, Carlinhos was unable to find spaces or impose his presence as a constant threat to the opponent's goal. In classics, where every detail makes a difference, this lack of protagonism weighed even more.

The replacement of Bruno Henrique by Carlinhoswas also a factor that generated discussion. Bruno Henrique, although he was not having a brilliant performance, is a player recognized for his ability to decide games, especially in big confrontations. His departure 18 minutes into the second half was justified by the coaching staff as part of the planning to spare the athlete, who recently returned from injury.

After taking charge of Flamengo, Tite, former coach of the Brazilian national team, made it clear that he is quickly adapting to the club's culture. In recent statements, he highlighted Rubro-Negro's striking characteristic: the incessant search for all possible titles. According to the coach, this spirit of intense competition is something that he not only admires, but is also incorporating into his own work philosophy.

Tite, known for his meticulous and results-focused work, revealed that the Transition to Flamengo involves constant learning, especially in relation to the club's winning mentality. "Flamengo has this culture of fighting for every title. There is no focus on just one competition, the goal is to win everything within reach", he explained.

THE COACH WANTS A COMPETITIVE STYLE

This characteristic is notable in Flamengoin recent years, which has won several important competitions, such as the Brazilian Championship and the Copa Libertadores. Tite, accustomed to pressure and the need for results, states that this mentality is something he is adopting in his day-to-day life at the club. “I see this culture, and this is what we are doing. Flamengo has this requirement, and I am a coach who likes this type of challenge.”

Although Tite has an established career, with successful spells at clubs such as Corinthians and the Brazilian national team, Flamengo represents a new experience for the coach. He is now at the helm of a team that has traditionally had fans calling for victories in every competition they compete in, something he sees as a positive challenge.

"You have to learn every day Even with the experience I have, here I realize that there are very high expectations, but at the same time that's what makes you grow", commented the coach. For him, working at a club that maintains such a high level of demand motivates him to always seek the best.

The match between Flamengo and Bahia, in the quarter-finals of the Copa do Brasil, held at Maracanã, went down in history as the game with the biggest audience in Brazilian football in 2024. On the day of the confrontation, 60,839 fans paid tickets to watch the duel, which added up to a total of 65,662 present at the stadium. This number surpasses any other sporting event in the country to date.

This brand once again consolidates Maracanã as one of the main stages of world football, reinforcing its tradition of receiving large audiences in decisive games. Furthermore, it reaffirms Flamengo's strength in mobilizing fans, regardless of the stage of the competition or the opponent. The game, which was worth a place in the semi-finals of the Copa do Brasil, attracted the attention not only of red and black fans, but also of Bahia fans, who were present in Rio de Janeiro, although in smaller numbers. The expectation generated by the confrontation, added to the tradition of the two clubs on the national scene, was decisive for thousands of fans to fill Maracanã.

FLAMENGO HAS ITS "GOLDEN" MOMENT IN THE SEASON

Flamengo and Bahia are two clubs with a great tradition in Brazilian football, and this was reflected in the mobilization for the confrontation. While Flamengo is experiencing a moment of protagonism on the national scene, with recent titles and a cast full of stars, Bahia was also showing strength, even if in a phase of restructuring and search for affirmation among the greats.

The quarterfinals of the Copa do Brasil final, a competition that rewards not only a trophy but also large amounts of money, become even more important for both teams. For Flamengo, winning the Copa do Brasil is a constant objective, while for Bahia the opportunity to advance to the semi-finals represented a great achievement.
