Monday (19) brought new evidence about the growing rivalry between Flamengo and Botafogo. After the defeat suffered by Rubro-Negro in the classic, the Gávea team may face yet another challenge: the possible loss of a player to the black and white rival. Right-back Vitinho, recently rumored for Flamengo, is close to signing a deal with Botafogo.
Botafogo made an official proposal to Burnley, from England, to sign Vitinho on loan with an option to buy. According to the “ge” portal, the 25-year-old right-back has already agreed salary terms with the black and white player, and negotiations are at an advanced stage. The player, who is currently a starter in the English second division team, could be on his way to Rio de Janeiro.
The Flamengohad shown interest in Vitinho last week, and the Internacional was also mentioned as a competitor in the hiring dispute. However, Botafogo's direct approach and the formal proposal to Burnley seem to put the club ahead in ensuring reinforcement.
The situation is reminiscent of the case of Marcos Antônio, a midfielder who was monitored by Flamengo for more than a month before signing with São Paulo. Marcos Antônio debuted for the São Paulo team on August 11, while Flamengo has not yet signed a midfielder.
Both Flamengo and Botafogo are looking to reinforce the right side. Flamengo is looking for a replacement for Wesley, who was sold to Atalanta for a sum that could exceed 20 million euros. On the other hand, Botafogo is looking for Vitinho to fill the vacancy left by Damian Suárez.

Tite defined Flamengo and announced the 11 starters who will face Peñarol, this Thursday, at Maracanã, at 7pm. De la Cruz returns to the starting lineup in place of Léo Ortiz, and Alex Sandro and Plata were retained. The duel with the Uruguayans is the first between the teams in the quarter-finals of the Copa Conmebol Libertadores.

However, the Technical Committee opted for precaution and did not list him for the duel against Peñarol due to fibrosis in the region. This past Tuesday (17), Felipe Motta announced his departure from Flamengo through his social networks, after one season. Now, the athlete will defend Rubro-Negro's rival, Botafogo in NBB 2024/25.
Felipe was revealed as an athlete with great potential. The young man played for the Brazilian National Team's youth teams, went through the NBA Global Academy, the North American league's development program, and played for Fortaleza before arriving at Rubro-Negro last season. He was champion of the Super 8 Cup and was part of the runner-up in the NBB.
However, Felipe only had a few minutes on the court per game and very discreet numbers. The winger played 5 minutes on average per game and had the following statistics: 1.3 points, 0.6 rebounds and 0.4 assists. The young man had more opportunities in LNb 2024 and did well in the fourth place campaign, but both parties reached an agreement and ended the relationship.
FELIPE MOTTA SAYS GOODBYE TO FLAMENGOOn his social networks, Felipe Motta thanked Mais Querido and sent a message to the Nation: “Thank you Flamengo. It was an honor to be part of and play for the red and black nation.”
It is expected that Felipe will have more minutes at Botafogo and can establish himself among the elite of Brazilian basketball. The new NBB 2024/25 season will start in the second week of October, and Mais Querido will face Vasco in the first round.
