This Tuesday (23), Flamengo U17's Garotos do Ninho beat Goiás by 4 to 1, in Gávea, for the fourth round of the category's Brasileirão. With goals from Camargo (2x), Giovanni and Douglas Telles, Mengão once again scored points in the tournament by defeating the leader and moving up the leaderboard.

Goiás' goal in the first minute of the match after a mistake in the red-black defense conditioned practically the entire first half. The opposing team was able to close in on the defensive field and made it difficult for Flamengo to create chances. Rubro-Negro, who seemed to feel the goal, only managed to find the best way to attack after 30 minutes.

The Garotos do Ninho started the game looking for tables with short passes, which ended up in the Goiás defense The first alternative was to try crosses into the area, but without success. From the 30th minute onwards, the first shots were made due to greater assertiveness in the passes at the edge of the area. Furthermore, the rival showed signs of fatigue by leaving many spaces in defense after attacking.

The second half started with a completely different scenario. Mengão returned to the field showing strong intensity and pressing in search of a draw. In the 12th minute, a Goiás athlete deflected the ball with his hand after Camargo's header and the referee signaled a penalty. Camisa 9 himself took responsibility and placed a smart shot into the right corner to tie the score.

Goiás launched an attack to try to regain the lead on the scoreboard, but the result was more space for Mengão. Starting with a pass from Camargo to Giovanni face to face with the opposing goalkeeper, who turned the score around with a shot with his right leg.

Shortly later, it was the center forward's turn to face the rival goalkeeper and shoot low. under the opponent's feathers. Finally, Douglas Telles received the ball in the middle, got rid of four markers and closed the score with a great left leg from outside the area.

Flamengo scores again after two consecutive defeats and reaches six points in the Brasileirão U17 table. Mengão leaves eighth place and moves up to fourth place, but still depends on other games in the round to maintain its position. The crowd is for Ceará, Santos and a draw between América-MG and Grêmio, a match that takes place this Thursday.

Flamengo's next match in the Under-17 Brasileirão

Os Garotos do Ninho returns to the field in the national league against Santos, but the CBF has not yet made the date or location of the match official. The only certainty is that Mengão will be visitors, and it is expected that the entity will make official information about the game soon.

The Brazilian Under-17 Championship has 20 teams, divided into two groups of 10 each. In the first phase, the clubs in each group play against each other in a single round and the four best qualify for the knockout stage.

Therefore, with three points in two rounds, Mengão needs to score again to prevent any of the rivals from taking off in the standings. After all, the competition has few games, which makes recovery campaigns difficult, and the best classification guarantees a duel with the team with the worst place in the knockout stage.

The Flamengo has already closed its 2024 signing cycle, but one name is of interest to the club for next season: Rafinha Alcântara. According to influencer Paparazzo Rubro-Negro, the player who is free on the market could be a target for the red-black board in 2025. Even though there is an election in December, the 31-year-old athlete is a name that pleases some parties.

“Flamengo could be signing a very important player in the next window. He is a player who was free on the market. In fact, he has already said that he wants to play for Flamengo, he has already made a statement saying that he dreams of playing for Flamengo. He is the son of four-time champion Mazinho, midfielder Rafinha Alcântara (…) But only for the next window, only at the end of the year”, said journalist Gabriel Reis.

How he left Al-Arabi, from Qatar In July, Rafinha Alcântara could even be signed by Flamengo until September 20th. On the other hand, he would only help Rubro-Negro in the Brazilian Championship and Libertadores. The deadline for registrations for the Copa do Brasil passed on Monday (9). However, the internal assessment is that the squad is already closed in 2024.

Vitor Pereira even wanted Rafinha Alcântara at Flamengo

At the time when the Flamengo was led by Vitor Pereira, the Portuguese coach even suggested hiring Alcântara in the middle window of 2023. However, with the Portuguese's dismissal, the matter did not move forward. Rafinha Alcântara received around 4.6 million euros per season at Al-Arabi, something close to R$28 million.
