Flamengo is about to complete the departure of right-back Wesley França, who should embark on European football soon. According to information from the RTI Esportes Agency, Famalicão, from Portugal, showed interest in the player and intends to present a loan proposal, with an option to purchase at the end of the initial period.

Famalicão sees Wesley as a valuable piece to reinforce his squad and plans an offer that includes the option to purchase outright after the end of the loan. Flamengo, in turn, welcomes the possible transaction, as Wesley is not in coach Tite's plans for the season. However, the Rio club is still awaiting an official proposal to continue negotiations.

CONDITIONS OF THE AGREEMENT

To transfer the full-back, Flamengo intends to establish a clause in the contract that obliges Famalicão to buy Wesley's economic rights if he participates in at least 20 matches for the Portuguese club. This condition is seen as a guarantee for Flamengo that the transaction will have a favorable outcome.

USE IN FLAMENGO

Wesley França had few opportunities at Flamengo this season, entering the field just 11 times. The last time he was used by Tite was in the fourth round of the Libertadores group stage, when Flamengo was defeated by Palestino, from Chile, 1-0. With the imminent transfer, the player is looking for new opportunities to resume his career in a new environment.

The 28th round of the Brazilian Championship ended with an important victory for Mais Querido. Last Sunday (29), Flamengo beat Athletico-PR 1-0 at Maracanã, ensuring their stay in the G-4 of the competition. The result was crucial in reducing the gap to the leader, Botafogo, which is now nine points. It is worth remembering that Mengão still has one game less, which could shorten the distance even further.

Playing at home, Rubro-Negro from Rio was superior on the field and carried out most of the offensive plays during the match. However, the winning goal only came 44 minutes into the second half, with Gerson, guaranteeing the three points for CRF. The triumph was essential for the team to remain among the top four in the table.

NEXT CHALLENGE: BAHIA AT THE ARENA FONTE NOVA

After winning the 28th round, Mengão now turns his attention to his next commitment in the Brazilian Championship. The team will face Bahia next Saturday (05), at 7pm (Brasília time), at Arena Fonte Nova, for the 29th round of the competition. The match will be another test for the team to maintain the rhythm and continue in the fight for the title.

BALANCE IN THE BRAZILIAN CHAMPIONSHIP

With the victory over Athletico-PR, the Flamengo added three more points to its Brasileirão campaign. So far, the team has 14 wins, six draws and seven defeats, with 43 goals scored and 32 conceded. The team's regularity has been essential to remain in the fight for the top positions in the tournament.

Before returning to focusing on the Brasileirão, Rubro-Negro has an important mission for the Copa do Brasil. Next Wednesday (02), Flamengo will face Corinthians at Maracanã, in the first match of the competition's semi-finals. The team led by Tite is looking for a good result at home, as the decision to place in the final will be in São Paulo.

Despite Mais Querido's victory over Athletico-PR, coach Tite did not escape harsh criticism from the fans at Maracanã. The fans' dissatisfaction, especially after the elimination in the Libertadores, was evident with boos and insults both upon the coach's arrival and departure from the stadium.

The team's irregular performance this season also contributed to the discontent of the Red and Blacks, who demanded more results and better performances.

During the post-game press conference, Tite commented on the protests from the fans, demonstrating understanding in the face of criticism. "I understand the demonstrations and the fans' love for the club. I seek to bring this maturity to the athletes so that they have the capacity to resist, resilience, to try as happened. That's why we deserve the score", declared the coach.

ELIMINATION IN THE LIBERTADORES INCREASES PRESSURE

The pressure on Mengão increased last Thursday, when the team was eliminated from the Libertadores after draw at home with Peñarol. This result increased criticism of Tite's work and further shook the atmosphere at the club. Furthermore, the irregular performance in the Brazilian Championship, which removed the team from contention for the title, raised the tone of the fans' protests.

At the reunion with the fans, last Sunday, the frustration was evident. Even after the victory over Athletico-PR, chants of protest and dissatisfaction echoed in the stands, demonstrating that the climate of demand remains strong.

RESPONSE DIRECT TO FANS

During the press conference, a journalist read a letter from an anonymous fan who questioned the coach about responsibility for the team's problems. Tite, in response, highlighted his commitment to work and dignity in the position. "I try to do my best, maybe I won't be the coach of your dreams. But the work and dignity you can be sure will always be there. Respect for you, the athletes and the entity will always be there", said the coach, showing confidence in leading the team.

ZAGUEIRO ADMITS THAT HE THOUGHT ABOUT GIVING UP FOOTBALL AFTER BEING DISMISSED BY FLAMENGO

The star had a turnaround in his career in Europe

With Pepe's departure from Porto, defender Otávio, formerly of Flamengo, assumes the role of reference in the Portuguese team's defensive system. His trajectory, however, could have been very different. Otávio revealed that he even thought about giving up football after being loaned by Flamengo. The change of scenery in Portuguese football and family support were decisive for its continuity.

In 2022, Otávio was loaned to Sampaio Corrêa-MA, where he had few opportunities to play. The difficult period made the 22-year-old consider abandoning his career. However, an opportunity in Portuguese football and encouragement from his family made him change his mind. "When I went to Sampaio Corrêa, I couldn't imagine anything else. I had stopped dreaming, thinking about playing for a big team, in Europe", said Otávio.

The turning point for Otávio occurred with his transfer to Famalicão, in Portugal. "When I went to Famalicão, that dream came back and I saw that I could reach and achieve my goals. The move to Portugal made me turn that key around. I was almost stopping, but my parents and my manager were the ones who most encouraged me to continue", commented the defender.

Otávio is a Flamengo kid and played in just one game for the Rio club. His debut took place against Palmeiras, in 2020, during an outbreak of covid-19 in the red and black squad. "I have enormous affection for Flamengo and I think one day, who knows, I will return. After the game against Palmeiras, I thought I would have more games, but it was the club that trained me and opened the doors for me", said Otávio.

Even though I expected more opportunities at Flamengo, the affection for the club is evident. "I watch some games when I'm off, my father, who watches a lot, stays up and then we comment. Flamengo will always be special to me", said the player, reflecting on his career and the desire to perhaps one day return.

Otávio was hired by Porto in January 2024 for 12 million euros (R$64.2 million). Upon arriving at the Portuguese club, he was warmly welcomed by Portuguese-Brazilian Pepe. "When I arrived in Porto, he was one of the first to ask me to talk. He's an idol, every day I watched what he did", said Otávio, highlighting the inspiration that Pepe represents for him.

Life with Pepe had a profound impact on Otávio. "When the game was over, I would look at my moves and watch his too to see if I could do something different. 41 years old and playing at a high level. He's a football idol", concluded Otávio, reinforcing the importance of the veteran in his development in Porto.
