Flamengo loaned Hugo Souza to Corinthians after the player returned from Portugal, where he played for Chaves. In the negotiation, the goalkeeper's sale price was set at 800 thousand euros (R$ 4.89 million) if the São Paulo club wants to permanently transfer the athlete to Parque São Jorge.
In view by journalist Mauro Cezar Pereira, the red-black football management made a mistake when setting the fixed value. On ‘Uol News Esporte’, Mauro stated that the price set was very low for a player who was still so young (25 years old) and that there was a chance of appreciation during the loan period.
“Flamengo set a very low price, this is a mistake. He is a young player who could obviously bounce back. I think that for him, at Flamengo, it would be difficult to turn things around, because there was already immense wear and tear, but at another big club, even in a crisis like Corinthians, he would have a chance to do what he is doing”, said Mauro Cezar .
Hugo Souza has been putting in great performances with the Corinthians shirt and the black and white fans are already asking the board to immediately pay the amount agreed with the red and black team for the purchase of the goalkeeper. Mauro Cezar believes that it is a matter of time for Timão to close the deal, which does not expose Flamengo's error in the value of the negotiation. “The value placed was very small, a serious failure by Flamengo's football department headed by Marcos Braz, this price placed on Hugo”, concluded the journalist.
Hugo Souza was the hero of Corinthians' qualification to the quarter-finals of the Copa Sudamericana. Just this Tuesday (03) Corinthians lost their much-desired place in the Copa Sudamericana final. Alvinegro ended up being defeated by Fortaleza 2-0, so the players got a day off. But there is no more time to cry or deal with grief and training returns this Thursday (05).
In the post game this Tuesday (03) Timão coach, Mano Menezes, said that their preparation for the match against Mengão would begin after a day of rest (Wednesday). Therefore, both today (05) and tomorrow (06) the players will have to attend training, in order to have everything ready for the weekend.
Corinthians' next game is against Flamengo. This will be for the 26th round of the Brazilian Championship, which is now the only tournament in which both teams can compete for the rest of the 2023 season, giving it a lot of importance. Therefore, there is no more time to waste for either team.
While Corinthians is fighting to stay out of the relegation zone, Flamengo is fighting to return to the G-4 and, consequently, guarantee its passage to the 2024 Copa Libertadores. The São Paulo club, at the moment , is in 12th place on the Brazilian Championship leaderboard, with 30 points.
The first place in the Z-4 is Vasco (17th place), which is just 4 points away from the black and white team, so they can't mess up. Fla has accumulated 43 points so far and occupies 5th place. Between Mais Querido and the vice-leader (Bragantino) there are only two points of difference.
Saturday's match (07) is scheduled to start at 9pm (Brasília time) at the Neo Química Arena, in the capital of São Paulo.
