0With his contract nearing the end, Nigerian striker Shola was the highlight of FlamengoSub-20's victory by 2 to 0 against Bahia, in a match valid for the 12th round of the Brazilian Championship of the category, held this Tuesday (02/07).
Shola's two goals were similar in execution. In the first, he received a speed pass from the left, advanced, invaded the area and finished with a shot past the goalkeeper, with assistance from Guilherme. For the second goal, the play was repeated, but with assistance from Felipe Teresa, consolidating Rubro-Negro's victory.
Shola's contract with Flamengo expires at the end of the month. To keep the player, the club needs to pay 500 thousand dollars (approximately R$ 2.8 million at current prices) to Remo Stars, from Nigeria, for 70% of the athlete's economic rights.
CONTRACTUAL SITUATION
However, according to journalist Venê Casagrande, Flamengo has not yet shown interest in activating the purchase option. This way, Shola has until the end of the month to convince the red and black board to hire him permanently.
IMPACT OF THE VICTORY
With Shola's two goals, Flamengo U20 moved up the leaderboard and remained in the group of eight clubs that advance to the next stage of the competition. The team's next appointment will be on Wednesday (10), against Athletico-PR, at 3pm, in Gávea.
The victory also brings relief to coach Filipe Luís, who was coming off two results negatives. Shola's performance not only secured the three points, but also put the young striker in the spotlight, raising expectations about his future at the club.
