Flamengo fulfilled the mission given to it this Friday morning (15), which was to ensure classification in the Adidas Cup. Mais Querido hosted Midtjylland, from Denmark. The leadership was already from Rubro Negro. Despite the defeat to Cerro Porteño, the under-16s beat Orlando City and Colo - Colo. Therefore, they already had six points in Group A. The team guaranteed advancement by defeating the Danes 2-0.
Even though they entered the field as leaders in the round, Flamengo still needed to guarantee classification. All five clubs reached the last round with chances of qualifying. Therefore, there was still a risk of Mais Querido losing their place, especially with the tense draw in the first half.
With seven points, Rubro Negro was still in the lead, but the score was still dangerous, as the combination of the other results could take the team from the top of the table. Midtjylland could also score and take the lead at any time. Even so, Flamengo's performance was superior.
After the end of the first half, full-back Luiz Phellipe gave an interview to FlaTv and spoke about what was needed for Flamengo to lead the score: "We are working the ball well. Several Uruguayan newspapers covered the tie between Flamengo and Vasco this Sunday (15). New coach of the under-17 team of Flamengo, Filipe Luís is preparing to lead the team in the first international competition. The Mais Querido idol travels this Thursday (28) with a delegation of boys to the United States to compete in the Generation Adidas Cup U-17.
There will be a total of 40 teams that will participate in the tournament in Bradenton , in Florida, divided into ten groups with four teams in each. The members of the bracket face each other. In this way, the top ten in each group and the six best runners-up advance to the round of 16.
The competition features 27 teams from the United States, three from Canada, three from Mexico, two from the Netherlands , one from Argentina, one from Colombia, one from Croatia, one from South Korea and as a representative of Brazil, Flamengo.
