Flamengo completed its preparation this morning at Ninho do Urubu and continues its trip to Caxias do Sul, where it will face Juventude next Wednesday (26). The red-and-black delegation will land in Canoas, Porto Alegre, and from there it will take a two-hour bus trip to the final destination.

For the confrontation, coach Tite must choose Flamengo with the following formation : Rossi; Wesley, Fabrício Bruno, Léo Pereira and Ayrton Lucas; Léo Ortiz, Gerson and Lorran; Victor Hugo, Luiz Araújo and Pedro.

IMPORTANT ABSTRACTS

Flamengo will have to deal with yet another absence for the match. Bruno Henrique suffered trauma to his left foot and began treatment. Although the tests do not show an injury, he will be left out. Victor Hugo will be his replacement and will play more advanced.

David Luiz, with pain in his right knee, will travel with the team, but should start on the bench. Léo Pereira trained alongside Fabrício Bruno in defense. David Luiz was substituted at half-time in the victory against Fluminense due to pain. After reassessment on Monday, any injury was ruled out, but, out of caution, he will remain on the bench.

OTHER ABSENCES

In addition to Bruno Henrique, Flamengo has other important absences. Varela, Viña, De la Cruz, Arrascaeta and Pulgar are called up by their national teams, while Igor Jesus and Cebolinha are in the medical department. Igor Jesus is treating a sprained left ankle and Cebolinha is recovering from a hip injury.
DECISIVE MATCH

< Flamengo, leader of the Brasileirão with 24 points and seven wins, seeks to maintain its unbeaten streak of nine games, with eight wins and one draw. The match against Juventude, valid for the 12th round, is crucial to consolidate its position at the top of the table.

The first women's volleyball competition is Mengão's! This Friday (27), Flamengo won the National Cup of Pro-Vôlei Clubs. Against the current Superliga champion, Bernardinho's team played 3 sets to 0 at Minas, with scores of 25-15, 25-18 and 25-17. The duel took place at Ginásio Wilson Mânica, in Ijuí, Rio Grande do Sul.

The tournament featured three clubs and serves as preparation for the 2024/25 Superliga. On Wednesday (25), Flamengo beat Maringá. On Thursday (26), Minas also beat the team from Paraná. Therefore, this Friday (27th) the big decision took place, which had a packed gym.

Victory to respect

Despite being a competition to open the season, Flamengo's victory gives a boost to the season. After all, Minas is the team to beat in Brazilian women's volleyball. Thus, in the last five Superligas, the Belo Horizonte team won four titles and one runner-up. In the squad, there are athletes who have played for the Brazilian team, such as Thaísa, Olympic champion and bronze medalist in this year's edition, in Paris.

Superliga

The dates of the Women's Super League have not yet been announced. However, there is an expectation that the competition will start in October. In total, 12 teams will play the tournament, in a round-robin system, with the eight best qualifying for the quarter-finals.

In the last edition, after all, Flamengo was eliminated by Praia Clube in the semi-final . Therefore, the goal for 2024/25 is to reach the decision and repeat the title won in 2000/01, when Rubro-Negro beat Vasco, in a historic decision at the Ginásio do Maracanãzinho.

FIFA will announce the venues for the 2025 Super Club World Cup this Saturday (28). The announcement will be made during the Global Citizen Festival. The event will be held in Central Park, New York. FIFA did not detail how many cities and stadiums will host the 2025 edition. This will be the first time that the tournament will feature 32 teams.

The Super World Cup will be held between June 15 and July 13, 2025 The competition already has 30 qualified teams, with three Brazilians among them: Palmeiras, Flamengo and Fluminense. Brazil may have one more representative. This is because Atlético-MG and Botafogo are fighting for the last South American place in the competition — the Libertadores title gives them the place. Peñarol [if they win the Libertadores] and Olímpia [if River wins the Libertadores] are the other teams in the running.

What will the Super Mundial be like?

< The competition organized by FIFA will be played for the first time with 32 teams next year. The United States will host the first edition of the tournament in this format. The 32 teams will be divided into eight groups with four teams each, with them facing each other in a single round. The top two in each group will advance to the round of 16. The knockout stage will be played in a single game.

The places are divided into: 12 for Europe, six for South America, four for Asia, Africa and North, Central America and the Caribbean, one for Oceania and one for the host country.

In addition to the remaining MLS spot, which has not yet defined its representative, the other available entry belongs to South America. It is destined for the champion of the edition of 2024 of the Libertadores. If River Plate wins the title, it will be transferred to the Conmebol ranking in FIFA and would already have an owner: Olímpia-PAR.

The provocation was always present in the confrontation between Flamengo and Peñarol in the Libertadores. According to the president of the Uruguayan club, Ignacio Ruglio, midfielder Javier Méndez was never worried about the number of players that Rubro-Negro signed before the clash. Mais Querido was reinforced with Michael, Plata, Alex Sandro and Alcaraz.

“A few days ago, it was announced that we would face Flamengo, and every day there was a new signing. Talking to him, I said: ‘Javi, these crazy people bring in a new player every day’. And he said to me: ‘Let them bring Messi. They have no chance against us. They won't win here or there,'” Ruglio revealed to the local press, after Peñarol eliminated Mengão on Thursday night (27).

The president also criticized the volume of signings from the Flamengo in 2024 and highlighted that Peñarol brought the right players for the season.

“Flamengo brought 10 players for 20 million dollars, but they didn't fit. Ours have been on the field for six months. We repeated that we had a club in order and with a good squad, but they told us: ‘But who else are they going to bring?’. It didn't value itself in the right way and they're seeing the results now”, concluded Ignacio.

Peñarol will face Flamengo's rival in the semi-final: Botafogo

After 51 years, Botafogo returns to a Libertadores semi-final and will face Peñarol, the team that eliminated Flamengo. It is worth mentioning that during the season, Rubro-Negro played against the future opponent of the Uruguayans three times: two defeats (2-0 and 4-1 – Brasileirão) and one victory (1-0 – Carioca).
