Flamengo has already lost 18 points in the Brazilian Championship due to set pieces. The team suffered from this again in the draw against Palmeiras, at Maracanã, a result that cost them a return to the top of the competition after Botafogo's defeat in the round. Tite preaches "focus and work" to improve the team in this regard.

The extra points would make a total difference for Flamengo. Only in direct confrontations against Botafogo and Palmeiras were four points wasted. Flamengo once again lost the chance to take the lead in the Brazilian Championship. The team fell to third, with 41 points and one game in hand. Leader Botafogo has 43 and Fortaleza, in second, has 42.
Tite was asked twice about the subject during the press conference. In the first, he stated that it was not an aerial ball, but a rebound. In the second, he was short on how to resolve it.
"The goal comes from a rebound ball, a return ball, not a header from a set piece. We have the same rate of goals conceded as the average championship, because the opponents also have quality. It was a rebound."

Flamengo already knows its next opponent in the Copa Libertadores : Estudiantes de La Plata (ARG), in the quarterfinals. Even before the ball kicked off, the president of the Argentine club and idol Juan Sebastián Verón took to social media to criticize CONMEBOL, following Independiente's exclusion from the Copa Sudamericana.

Given the seriousness of the case, Conmebol decided to exclude the club from the competition and apply a fine of 250 thousand dollars (approximately R$ 1.3 million) , in addition to a punishment of seven games within Conmebol with closed doors, in addition to another seven as a visitor without the right to fans.
