The Copa do Brasil reaches its decisive phase, and this Thursday (12), Flamengo and Bahia face each other at Maracanã, at 9:45 pm, in search of a place in the tournament's semifinals. CRF takes the advantage for the clash after winning the first game, in Salvador, 1-0, with a goal from Bruno Henrique.
With the victory in the first clash, Mais Querido plays for a draw for guarantee classification. Bahia needs to win by two or more goals to advance directly. If they win by just one goal difference, the decision will go to penalties.
Flamengo is looking for a place in the semi-finals for the fourth consecutive time. In 2021, the team was eliminated in the semifinals by Athletico-PR. The following year, he became champion by beating Corinthians in the final. In 2023, the team finished runner-up, being defeated by São Paulo.
To date, Bahia, which has participated in the Copa do Brasil since the first phase, has already guaranteed R$13.44 million in prize money. Mengão, which entered the third phase, accumulates R$10.18 million. Whoever advances to the semi-finals will pocket an additional R$9.45 million. Tite defined Flamengo and announced the 11 starters who will face Peñarol, this Thursday, at Maracanã, at 7pm. De la Cruz returns to the starting lineup in place of Léo Ortiz, and Alex Sandro and Plata were retained. Red-and-black striker is the target of speculation in the transfer market

This Monday (16), rumors emerged involving Bahia's interest in signing Gabigol, striker from Mais Querido. According to the channel Paparazzo Rubro-Negro, Tricolor de Aço would have entered the dispute for Gabigol, who has a contract with Flamengojust until December this year. In addition to Bahia, clubs such as Corinthians, Cruzeiro, Grêmio, Palmeiras and Santos would also be keeping an eye on the player.
Despite the speculation, the Bahia board was quick to deny any ongoing negotiations to count on the shirt 99 from Mengão. According to the club's leadership, there is no intention of repeating an operation similar to that carried out with Everton Ribeiro.
As soon as news of the supposed interest began to circulate, Bahia tried to clarify the situation. In a statement, the club's senior management stated that there are no negotiations to sign Gabigol for next season. The information of possible interest, therefore, was directly denied by Tricolor's directors.

With Bahia's denial, Corinthians remains the main favorite to sign Gabigol from next year.
