Corinthians is in negotiations to transfer R$500,000 to Flamengo, aiming to guarantee the presence of the goalkeeper Hugo Souza in this Sunday's match, at 4pm (Brasília time), at the Neo Química Arena, valid for the 25th round of the Brazilian Championship.
Hugo Souza, who is on loan from Flamengo to Corinthians until the end of the year, will only be able to act against the former club if the São Paulo team makes the payment provided for in the contractual clause.
No loan contract signed between the teams, there is a clause that demands compensation from Flamengo every time Hugo Souza faces his home club. Corinthians has until Friday to confirm the deposit of R$500,000, thus guaranteeing the goalkeeper's presence in Sunday's match. If the two teams face each other again, as in a possible semi-final of the Copa do Brasil, the São Paulo club will have to make the same payment per game.
NEGOTIATIONS FOR PERMANENT ACQUISITION
Corinthians paid 200 thousand euros (approximately R$ 1.19 million) to Flamengo for Hugo Souza's loan until the end of 2024. To guarantee the goalkeeper's permanence, From January 2025, it will be necessary to invest 800 thousand euros (around R$4.7 million) for 50% of the player's economic rights. However, the Corinthians board intends to negotiate with Flamengo the acquisition of a larger percentage than initially planned.

The Copa Libertadores will start this Tuesday (1). Thus, Conmebol announced a series of changes to the competition's regulations and defined that the eight-second rule will be present in this edition .
The new rule highlights that if the goalkeeper holds the ball for more than eight seconds, the referee will have to award a corner to the opposing team.
"From now on, goalkeepers will be able to keep the ball for a maximum of eight seconds.
If they exceed this time, they will be penalized with a corner kick in favor of the opposing team. This new rule aims to speed up the game and avoid unnecessary delays ", the entity published.
OLD RULE
It is worth remembering that in the old regulations, it was determined that if the goalkeeper delayed the ball throw-in, an indirect free kick would be awarded. However, it was rarely respected by referees and goalkeepers.
