Flamengo under-20 scored two consecutive victories in the Brasileirão Under-20 and is recovering from a bad start. After a week of training, the Garotos do Ninho visit Atlético-MG this Thursday (16), at 9:30 pm, and defender João Victor Souza shows confidence after good preparation and minimizes the away game in the search for three more points.
“We know the difficulty of the match. It's a very important game to be able to continue fighting for the top of the table. There isn't much interference when it comes to playing away from home, we are prepared. We had an excellent week. And now it’s time to do well so we can gain three more points and continue fighting in the championship”, said the jewel of the red and black base.
Youngest under-20 player, aged 17 in January, João Souza was a starter in Flamengo's two consecutive victories, against Santos and Cruzeiro. The defender is considered a jewel of the youth categories, and the tendency is for coach Mario Jorge to keep the young man in the starting 11 against Atlético-MG.
Flamengo occupies eighth place in the Brasileirão U20 with nine points, the result of three wins and two defeats. A victory against the team from Minas Gerais, in 12th place, could see Rubro-Negro climb up to four positions and finish the round in the G4. Remembering that the top eight qualify after 19 rounds, and better placement guarantees a command and crossing advantage against worse placed teams.
Mario Jorge does not have midfielders Rayan Lucas and Fabiano for this Thursday's clash, both of whom are suspended . There are names that could play for the under-20s, but are available to professionals: Lorran, Matheus Gonçalves* and Dyogo Alves.
The black and white rival won 4-1 in the duel played on Saturday morning (17), at the Nilton Santos Stadium, and secured a place in the final

If it was already difficult due to Flamengo 's need to win by three goals to secure a place in the final of the Copa Rio Sub-20 , the goal conceded at the beginning of the game complicated things even more. Botafogo won the duel played on Saturday morning (17), at the Nilton Santos Stadium, 4-1 , and secured a place in the final.
After a good start, with a dangerous shot from Bill, just one minute in, well saved by the Botafogo goalkeeper, Flamengo ended up conceding the first goal in the 7th minute, scored by defender Kauã Branco, from a corner kick from the right. The advantage left Alvinegro comfortable on the field, while Fla tried to get at least a draw.
The Boys from the Nest fought hard and the way forward seemed to be on the left , where striker Bill tried another shot, which even hit the left post of goalkeeper Rhyan Luca. The opponent did everything to cook the game. The team led by Leonardo Ramos kept bothering the team, but the goal kept on coming. Flamengo's attacks didn't produce results and Botafogo ended up taking advantage of one of the rare attacks to increase the advantage even further, with a beautiful goal by number 10 Yarlen, in the 39th minute.
The panorama of the second half did not change . And the opponent ended up extending the lead in the 10th minute, with Kauan Toledo. There was still time for Botafogo to score the fourth, in the 38th minute, again with Kauan. Lipão reduced the deficit six minutes later, giving the final score to the game. Flamengo says goodbye to the Copa Rio with four wins, one draw and four losses.

Pedro Leão , the Rubro-Negro's top scorer this season, spoke about the team's evolution under coach Nuno Campos and previewed the duel against the Spanish team.
In an interview with Flamengo TV, Nuno Campos revealed that one of the goals scored against Bahia last Wednesday (7), in the U-20 Brasileirão, was totally influenced by the Portuguese coach.
It's all worked out...
" New position, it's working out. I've learned a lot from Nuno, opportunities are coming. I do a lot of finishing after training. The second goal, which Sales crossed, was trained. We also do this play where the full-back cuts inside and I control it with guidance and shoot. It's all worked on and these goals are the result of that work ," said the youngster.
The Boys from Ninho will host Barcelona (ESP) at Maracanã for the U-20 World Cup on August 23rd of this year. Thus, Pedro Leão called up the Red-Black Nation for the clash against 'La Masia' at the Sacred Temple.
" When it comes to the final against Barcelona, the anxiety is through the roof, right? It's against a great team. I think it's going to be a great game and we're counting on the support of the fans there ," said the center forward.
Before thinking about the Intercontinental against Barcelona, the Garotos do Ninho focus their attention on the Brasileirão U-20. Flamengo returns to the field this Thursday (15), in a clash against São Paulo, for the 10th round of the competition, at 6 pm.
