On Thursday afternoon (5), Flamengo informed that midfielder Allan would undergo a surgical procedure to remove a bone calcification in his right ankle. This is not the plantar fasciitis injury that has prevented the player from playing on the field since September 13th.
Allan took advantage of the recovery period from the rupture of the plantar fascia in his left foot to be able to begin the necessary treatment on his right ankle. The procedure was carried out this Thursday (5) at a hospital in the South Zone of Rio de Janeiro. For the injury to the left foot, Flamengo's medical department defined conservative treatment with an initial duration of two months. After the surgery, the player sent a message to Nação Rubro Negra, saying that he would recover as quickly as possible to be able to help Mais Querido.
The injury that took midfielder Allan off the field happened in Flamengo's defeat to Athletico - PR, for the Brazilian Championship, on September 13th. Allan started on the bench and came on at half-time, replacing David Luiz who played in the first half as a midfielder, but fell alone in the central circle in the 16th minute and asked for a replacement.
Allan was one of the reinforcements requested by the former coach from Flamengo, Jorge Sampaoli. Rubro Negro paid more than R$43 million for the player, who only managed to play five times as a starter. There are only 13 games so far. The midfielder will only return to the pitch next season.
Therefore, without Allan's presence, interim coach Mário Jorge leads the team in another match. Flamengo will face Corinthians this Saturday (7), at 9 pm, in a match valid for the 26th round of the Brazilian Championship. Rubro Negro needs to win to be able to secure a place in the Libertadores 2024.
