In recent seasons, Flamengo and Palmeiras fought highly contested duels, in addition to frequently competing in tournaments, such as the Libertadores and the Campeonato Brasileiro. In this way, the star of the São Paulo team, Raphael Veiga, recognized the Rubro Negro as the main opponent.

"Considering everything that has happened lately, Flamengo is a worthy opponent. It's good to play against Flamengo, as they also have a strong team. They have been fighting for titles with us", said Raphael Veiga.

CONTEST BETWEEN THE TEAMS

Flamengoand Palmeiras competed in the last five years almost all competitions. In the Brazilian Championship, clubs dominated the list of champions. Both teams lifted the cup on two occasions each. Corinthians and Atlético MG were other teams that finished first in this period.

In addition to the Brazilian Championship, Flamengo and Palmeiras also dominated the Libertadores, having two titles each as well. Mais Querido won in 2019 and 2022 and the Alviverde team was champion in 2020 and 2021.

IGNORED RIVALS

Mais Querido has been Palmeiras' main rival in recent years. Proof of this is that Raphael Veiga did not mention his opponents from São Paulo, such as São Paulo, Santos and Corinthians, with whom he has competed for state titles.

FLAMENGO'S NEXT MATCH

While the competitions national teams do not start for Flamengo, the Mais Querido focuses on the final stretch of Carioca. The Rubro Negro team takes the field next Saturday (2), at 4pm, at Maracanã, in a clash against Madureira. The game will be the last of the first phase of the State Championship and Mengão will be able to lift the Guanabara Cup.

Since taking over Flamengo's main team, Filipe Luís has been the target of praise from journalists and former players. This time, it was Rivelino, champion of the 1970 World Cup with the Brazilian team. The idol praised the work of Mais Querido's coach and also praised Evertton Araújo's football, revealed by Rubro-Negro.

"The boy who entered Flamengo's midfield (Evertton Araújo). Filipe Luís likes working with the ball. If I'm a player I always want to be with the ball. This talk of giving the ball to the opponent doesn't please me. I'm rooting for a renewal that starts with Filipe Luís doing a great job at Flamengo", said Rivelino, World Cup champion in 1970.

FILIPE LUÍS AT FRONT OF FLAMENGO

Filipe Luís took over Flamengo's command in October this year, when Tite was fired. Thus, the current coach was on the sidelines in eight matches, with five victories. During the period, he took Rubro-Negro to the final of the Copa do Brasil.
