Despite his great identification with Fluminense and winning the Libertadores, Diniz had been criticized for the club's terrible campaign in the Brasileirão, where they are at the bottom. This is the club's worst start in the points competition.
During this spell at Fluminense, Fernando Diniz was voted the best coach in South America by the Uruguayan newspaper "La Nación", in the traditional vote from "King of America". He overtook names like Abel Ferreira, (Palmeiras), Lionel Scaloni (Argentina national team), Luis Zubeldía (former LDU and currently at São Paulo) and Marcelo Bielsa (Uruguay national team).
Diniz also arrived simultaneously commanding the Brazilian team during this period, but without having the same success: he played just six games for the team, with victories over Bolivia and Peru, a draw with Venezuela, defeats to Uruguay, Colombia and Argentina.

On Saturday night (28), FIFA will announce the host cities for the 2025 Club World Cup. The event will take place in Central Park, in New York, at 6:45 pm. The competition is scheduled to take place between June and July next year and Flamengo is confirmed among the 32 participating teams.
