Argentine star evaluates the possibility of playing in South American football,
|
0Lionel Messi, who has a contract with Inter Miami until December 2025, is reportedly considering leaving the United States to play, for the first time, in South American football. The information comes from the German newspaper Bild, and surprised the world of football, including Brazil, where clubs like Mengão, Corinthians and Palmeiras usually make large investments in renowned players.
However, despite the interest that could emerging from Brazilian giants, Messi's desire would be to return to Argentina to defend Newell's Old Boys, his formative club. The star left the Argentine team at the age of 13 to join the Barcelona academy, where he built a historic career, winning 10 La Liga titles, four UEFA Champions Leagues and three FIFA Club World Cups.
After a long and successful spell at Barcelona, Messi transferred to Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) in 2021, where he played alongside Neymar and Mbappé. However, despite expectations, the Parisian team failed to achieve major continental achievements during their stay. At the end of his contract with PSG, Messi decided to try North American football, playing in Major League Soccer (MLS) for Inter Miami, David Beckham's club.
Now, at 37 years old, the Argentine is studying a return to South American football, with the intention of playing in the Copa Libertadores. This move would mark a new chapter in his career, this time closer to his home country and his first fans.
If Messi chose to play in Brazil, the CRF could repeat great signings from the past, as it did in 1995 when bringing Romário from Barcelona, when "Baixinho" was the best player in the world. Furthermore, in 2011, Mais Querido convinced Milan to release Ronaldinho Gaúcho, also voted the best player in the world twice in the 2000s. Messi, with his vast experience and achievements, would certainly attract the interest of any major South American club , including Mengão.

The coach should not remain at Mengão next season
|
0Coach Tite, currently in charge of Mais Querido, may not continue in charge of the team in 2025. CRF's recent performances have been the target of criticism, and the coach's permanence for next season is increasingly uncertain. According to journalist Venê Casagrande, the coach had already decided to leave the team at the end of the year, especially since his name is not the favorite of any of the club's main electoral slates.
This situation paves the way for others clubs seek to sign Tite. One of the interested parties would be Grêmio, which sees the coach as a priority for next year.
According to information from the Sou Grêmio portal, Tite is considered Imortal's main target for 2025. The club from Rio Grande do Sul, which currently has Renato Gaúcho in charge, should not renew with the coach. Tite's possible arrival is welcomed by the Grêmio board, especially due to his experience and prestige on the national scene.
Journalist João Batista Filho reinforces that one of Grêmio's most influential directors maintains a relationship next meeting with Tite, which could facilitate negotiations. However, the interest in Tite is for next year, and Grêmio will continue with Renato Gaúcho until the end of the season.
Despite speculation, both Grêmio and Mengão remain focused on their objectives for the remainder of 2024. The CRF, under the command of Tite, seeks to improve performance and remain competitive in the national competitions. Tricolor Gaucho is evaluating options for next season, with Tite being the main name for technical command in 2025.

0This Wednesday (25), two more games valid for the quarter-finals of the Libertadores will be played. On that occasion, São Paulo x Botafogo and Atlético-MG x Fluminense compete for a place in the semi-finals of the competition.
The game that starts Wednesday (25th) of the Libertadores is between Atlético-MG x Fluminense. The teams will face each other at Arena MRV, at 7pm, in Belo Horizonte and the team from Minas Gerais will try to reverse the score, which on aggregate is 1-0 for the Tricolores.
At 9:30pm, São Paulo and Botafogo will compete a place in the Libertadores semi-finals, at Morumbis. The first match, at the Nilton Santos Stadium, ended in a goalless draw. Thus, the vacancy is open.
Flamengo only enters the field on Thursday (26), when it visits Peñarol . The clash between the teams will be at 9 am, at the Campeón del Siglo Stadium, in Montevideo. The game will be broadcast live throughout Brazil on ESPN and Disney Plus.
Mais Querido will have to reverse the unfavorable statistics if they want to advance to the Libertadores semifinals. It is worth remembering that Peñarol beat Rubro-Negro in the first leg, at Maracanã, by a score of 1 to 0. Therefore, Flamengo will have to win by two or more goals difference.
