In the seventh round of the Brasileirão Feminino, Flamengo beat Juventude 2-0 on Saturday night (26), at the Luso-Brasileiro stadium . Monalisa and Glaucia scored for the Meninas da Gávea, who are now in seventh place with 10 points in the competition. In the next round, Mengão faces Cruzeiro away from home.
The Gávea Girls started the match taking the initiative to attack. Just three minutes in, Glaucia took a free kick on the left side of the area, the ball went through the wall and the goalkeeper saved it for a corner.
Before ten minutes had passed, Mengão opened the scoring. Monalisa, from the right, took a shot, the ball deflected off Juventude's defense and deceived the goalkeeper: 1-0. After the goal, the red-blacks continued to attack, creating chances to increase their lead. On the other hand, the team from Rio Grande do Sul had a hard time getting the ball out of the way and tried to get past the midfield using long passes.
With ample possession of the ball, Flamengo continued to exchange passes in the attacking sector and surrounded Juventude's area, but failed in the final pass to finish on goal. The first half ended with the Meninas da Gávea in the lead.
After the break, Juventude started to attack more , trying to equalize in the first few minutes. At 14', Glaucia received a deep pass, drove it into the area and shot, but the goalkeeper saved it. Then, Mariana, who had just come on, made a good play on the left, cut inside and shot. The goalkeeper made the save in the center of the goal.
With Juventude's change of stance, the game became open , with both teams looking to attack. Flamengo had a slight improvement with the entry of Mariana, but the team from Rio Grande do Sul was the one who posed the most danger.
At an important moment in the match, Mengão extended their lead with a great goal ! Juventude's defense made a mistake and the ball fell to Glaucia, who hit a beautiful shot into the right corner of the goal to score the second goal for the red-black team: 2-0.
In the final minutes, the Meninas da Gávea managed the result and kept the ball in play until the final whistle to leave the field with their third victory in the Brasileirão Feminino.
The Girls from Gávea return to the field next Wednesday (30) to face Cruzeiro, at 7 pm, at the Castor Cifuentes stadium, for the eighth round of the Brasileirão Feminino .

The current coach of Wolverhampton Wanderers (ENG), Portuguese Vítor Pereira, previously managed Corinthians and Flamengo in Brazil. Despite a strong campaign with the São Paulo club, the coach failed to win over the red-and-black fans and ended up having a stint marked by criticism . In an interview with ESPN, the coach spoke about his experience in the country.
Vítor Pereira on his time at Flamengo and in Brazil: "If I had a crystal ball to know the future"
"(My time in Brazil was) a life experience. We're always changing. If I had a crystal ball to predict the future, I would change something in my life. I made the decisions I felt I had to do, the decisions I had to make, " said Vítor Pereira.
He then added: "And they're part of life and our growth. I think we grow a lot in the moments when we're under pressure, when we suffer. I've had beautiful moments in Brazil and moments of suffering . It's part of football," the coach concluded.
Vítor Pereira arrived at Flamengo at the beginning of 2023, after the board, then chaired by Rodolfo Landim, opted to leave Dorival Júnior , coach who won the Libertadores and the Copa do Brasil in 2022. In charge of Rubro-Negro, Pereira lasted only three months.
In 18 matches, they recorded 10 wins, seven losses, and one draw, but suffered setbacks in every competition they competed in. Flamengo finished runner-up in the Carioca (losing to Fluminense), the Brazilian Super Cup (Atlético-MG), and the South American Recopa (Independiente del Valle) , as well as finishing third in the Club World Cup.
Now under the command of Filipe Luís, Flamengo is preparing for another challenge in the 2025 Brasileirão . This Monday (25), the team faces Vitória, at 9 pm (Brasília time), at Maracanã, in a duel valid for the 21st round.
