In the sports scene of Flamengo, attention now turns not only to the brilliant performances of the first team, but also to the development of the youth teams. Recently, the coach of the under-17 team, Filipe Luís, gave an exclusive interview to FlaTV, sharing his perspectives and challenges in his new role.

After years of success as a professional player, Filipe Luís immersed himself in a new facet of his career: coaching. Expressing gratitude for the opportunity to guide Flamengo's young talents, the former left-back highlighted the excitement and continuous learning that this transition provides. However, he does not deny the difficulties inherent to this new role.

A NEW FILIPE LUÍS AT FLAMENGO

In the midst of challenges, Filipe Luís makes a point of recognizing potential and commitment of its players. During the interview, he praised the under-17 squad, highlighting their technical quality and visible progress on the field. According to the coach, it is gratifying to witness the team's gradual assimilation of his playing philosophy.

However, the competitive environment holds unique obstacles for the Flamengo . One of the main challenges faced by the coach and his players is playing games in the intense heat of 11 am. Filipe Luís does not hesitate to mention the difficulties imposed by the climate, highlighting the need for adaptation and adequate preparation to deal with this aspect.

In the face of climatic and logistical adversities, the technician emphasizes the importance of strategic planning and attention to the details. Filipe Luís and his technical team are constantly looking for creative solutions to optimize the performance of young athletes, whether through tactical adjustments or measures to minimize the impacts of heat.

Flamengo U20 will have another challenge in the Brazilian Championship in the category. The Garotos do Ninho face Palmeiras in the 3rd round of the competition, this Wednesday (17), at 3:15 pm in Gávea, broadcast on SporTV. It will be the reunion of the opponents from the single final of the last edition of the Brasileirão, with Mengão becoming two-time champions.

From the starting lineup of the last match between the teams, only ten athletes were listed for this Wednesday. Another generation, made up mostly of players born in 2005 and 2006, but who already show on the field what it means to be Flamengo. Race, love and passion were part of the journey of these Boys from the Nest, who went to the semi-final of the Copa São Paulo de Futebol Júnior in January and, in March, lifted and brought the unprecedented Copa Libertadores Sub-20, which could be played by cause of the Brazilian title in 2023.

Always reaching the finals and competing for the main achievements are part of the process of forming Flamengo's grassroots football. It's in the Rubro-Negro DNA and the athletes know it. Whether from Under-20A or Under-20B, created in 2019. Two teams in the same category, with their own technical committees that work in an integrated manner to meet the needs of category competitions and professional football. Furthermore, it helps with the transition and adaptation of the boys recently promoted from U17.

It was because they went through 20B, for example, that the competitive level was maintained even with the changes in the current U17 squad. 20, which had athletes moving up to the professional ranks, being traded or exceeding the age category. Technique and skill spoke louder, the backbone formed in the Copinha and subsequently, the Libertadores won. Today, 20B is led by Raphael Bahia, and is competing in the Copa Rio while, at the same time, Mario Jorge leads the U20 in the Brasileirão.

Last Sunday (14), the 1-0 away victory over Fluminense, qualifying for the cup final, proves this. The opponent played with the main team made up of 2004 and 2005 athletes, while Mengão had a younger team, and they were just as competitive, dueling at the same level of physical intensity and creating many goal chances. Mario Jorge knows he can count on them throughout the season, which has a full calendar (after Copinha and Libertadores, the category still has Brasileirão, Copa Rio, Mundial, Carioca and Copa do Brasil in dispute)

Left-back Matias Viña, from Flamengo, participated in training normally this Friday, after recovering from a serious head collision that occurred in the first round against Atlético-GO. The injury left him out of the clash against São Paulo, however, the prospects are that he will be available to face his former club.

The Uruguayan player, a key player in the red and black team, suffered the impact during the game against Atlético-GO, which prevented him from playing in the last match. His absence was noted, but now, with his return to training, the coach and fans hope to have his presence on the field again.

The head collision, which initially caused concern, appears to have left no consequences serious in Viña, who demonstrated that he was recovered when participating in activities with the rest of the cast. His return is seen as an important reinforcement for the team, especially considering the quality and consistency he has shown in his performances.

Like Giorgian De Arrascaeta, another highlight of Flamengo, Matias Viña should be listed for the next game and, if everything goes according to plan, he will be ready to take the field. The clash, which is against his former club, adds an extra element of interest to the full-back's return.

Expectations surrounding Viña's return are high, not only among fans, but also in the technical scope. His presence provides more tactical options for the coach, in addition to reinforcing the defense and contributing to the team's offensive game.

Flamengo's next game promises to be exciting, especially with the return of Matias Viña to the squad. Fans look forward to seeing his performance on the field and hope that he can contribute with his skill and dedication to another victory for the Rio team.
