Coach Filipe Luís had a special birthday this Saturday (09). On the day he turned 40, the coach saw Flamengo reach the mark of 101 goals under his command . The feat occurred at Maracanã, during the 2-1 victory over Mirassol , in the 19th round of the Brasileirão.

The 100th goal came on a precise header from Léo Pereira , following a move initiated by Arrascaeta and a perfect cross from Samuel Lino from the left. Shortly after, the 101st goal came again from the left: Arrascaeta hit a trivela to Gonzalo Plata, who finished to extend the red-and-black lead.

FILIPE LUÍS'S CAREER AS A COACH

The match also marked Filipe Luís's 60th game as Flamengo 's manager. The former full-back took over in October 2024, following Tite's departure, leaving the club's youth academy to manage the first team . The coach is aiming to become the first to complete a full season at Mengão since Vanderlei Luxemburgo in 2014.

NEXT COMMITMENT FOR THE BRAZILIAN CHAMPIONSHIP

Flamengo returns to the field next Sunday (August 17) to face Internacional , in the 20th round of the Brazilian Championship. The match will be played at 6:30 pm (Brasília time), at Beira-Rio, in Porto Alegre, with the aim of maintaining the leadership of the competition.

Before facing Internacional in the Brasileirão, Flamengo will have to face the same opponent, but in another competition: the Copa Libertadores da América . Mengão hosts Colorado this Wednesday (13) at 9:30 pm (Brasília time) at Maracanã in the first leg of the round of 16 of the continental competition.

Flamengo won three more points in the Brazilian Championship by beating Mirassol 2-1 this Saturday (09). After the match, coach Filipe Luís commented, in a press conference, on the club's movement in the market and the possibility of new arrivals and departures.

But we hope the squad's quality is high enough to withstand the marathon season."

REINFORCEMENTS ALREADY ANNOUNCED

In this transfer window, Flamengo signed four players: Samuel Lino, Carrascal, Emerson Royal, and Saúl Ñíguez . Among them, only the Colombian has yet to make his debut for the Manto Sagrado. The club is still looking to sign a center forward with the ability to press the ball out.
