Flamengo intensifies every day the project for the construction of its own stadium in the Gasometer region, Rio's Port Zone of January. The development of this initiative raises concerns about the future of Maracanã, given the importance of the club to the traditional stadium.
In contact with the newspaper “O Globo”, the government of the State of Rio de Janeiro issued a note official report on the fate of Rio's iconic football stage. It is worth noting that Flamengo has the support of both the state government and the city council for the construction of the new stadium.
The public authorities ensure that Maracanã will not lose its value for sport, relying on the contractual clauses existing in the stadium's bidding process, which guarantee this preservation.
MANAGEMENT OF MARACANÃ
The Fla-Flu duo won the bidding process and will manage Maracanã for the next 20 years. According to the official note, "the State Government is in favor and naturally sees the fact that Flamengo seeks to build an important asset such as a football stadium and hopes that the club will be able to carry out its project. For the State of Rio de Janeiro, the The existence of new sports equipment adds to the sport and leisure of the population of Rio de Janeiro."
CONTRACTUAL COMMITMENTS
The government emphasizes that, with the end of the bidding process, the Maracanã Complex will be granted to the Fla-Flu consortium for the next 20 years, through a contract in which obligations and commitments are pre-established. "In this way, the State Executive Branch trusts that the contractual clauses will be fulfilled. The State Government's objective is to maintain Maracanã as a competitive stadium and preserve its historical value as a temple of football", concludes the note.

In a press conference at Ninho do Urubu, goalkeeper Agustín Rossi spoke about his desire to be called up to the Argentina national team , the current world champion. Despite his dream, the goalkeeper made it clear that his priority remains Flamengo.

Since joining Flamengo in 2023, Rossi has already won four titles. Last season, he was a key player in the undefeated Carioca Championship and also played in the Copa do Brasil victory.
