In participation in the panel "FALA 12", by journalist Fred, from the Desimpedidos channel, Diego Ribas, former Flamengo player, commented on the possible construction of the club's own stadium. Ribas supports the idea, but emphasizes that Flamengo should try to acquire Maracanã before considering building a new arena.

“The ideal world for me is for Flamengo to buy Maracanã. If it’s not possible, then we have to build a new stadium”, summarized Diego Ribas.

Diego Ribas arrived at Flamengo in 2016 and remained at the club until the end of the 2022 season. During his time, he won several titles, including two Brazilian Championships, two Libertadores, one Copa do Brasil, three Cariocas, one Recopa Sudamericana and two Supercups of Brazil.

PLANNING FROM THE NEW STADIUM

Flamengo has already defined the capacity it wants for its new stadium. Initially, President Rodolfo Landim intended to build an arena for 100,000 people. However, after evaluating the Gasometer site, in the center of Rio, the idea was adjusted to a stadium with a capacity of 80 thousand, thus reducing construction costs.

< p>DECISIVE MEETING

In a recent video, deputy Pedro Paulo revealed that a meeting is scheduled for Monday (27) to discuss the topic. Carlo Caiado (president of the Chamber), Eduardo Paes (mayor), representatives of Flamengo and Caixa Econômica Federal, which manages the region's proprietary fund, will be present.

NEXT STEPS

The next step for Flamengo to acquire the Gasologista land is to obtain approval of the construction potential of Gávea by the Chamber. Although this task is not considered difficult, it does require time to complete.

Fired this Monday morning, Tite< /a> failed to implement the expected performance at Flamengo since his arrival. Furthermore, the strong pressure from the fans would have influenced both the board and the coach himself. According to Lédio Carmona, the coach "felt" the weight of this situation. He appeared visibly dejected in the post-game press conference, and, even after the victory that kept the team in the G4 of the Brasileirão, the atmosphere of dismissal was already noticeable.

“He is emotionally fragile, I think he was unable to mobilize emotionally , in soul terms, the players. If you look at Flamengo's goal celebration, it will look like a goal at 15 in the first half, players celebrated in an almost cold way. And the information we have is that the locker room after the game is a very cold locker room”, analyzed Lédio.

Lédio Carmona highlighted that, in addition to the elimination in the Libertadores, the main reason for Tite has been underperforming, especially in recent months. The absence of Pedro, an essential player for the coach's scheme, left the team vulnerable, further exposing the team's flaws.

“He couldn't make the team play well, he couldn't find solutions, he couldn't It improved the players' mental side. And this brought reflections from the board in terms of this, on his emotional side, on the team's soul”, added Lédio.

Now, with Filipe Luís taking charge until the end of the year, the expectation is that there will be no there is only a change of name in the technical area, but also a change in the team's tactics and posture on the field. Filipe, who has a good relationship with the players, is betting on a more modern game proposal to try to save Flamengo's season.

With confirmation from Flamengo that Filipe Luís will be the club's interim coach until the end of the 2024 season, Mengão announced through its social networks the names of the professionals who will be alongside the former full-back as part of the technical committee in his work as coach of Mais Querido's main team. Filipe Luís will take command of Flamengo's main team with the support of three technical assistants: Ivan Palanco, Márcio Torres and Daniel Alegria. In addition to them, physical trainer Diogo Linhares will also be part of the technical committee. Ivan, Márcio and Diogo had already worked with Filipe in the under-20s, while Daniel was with him in the under-17s.

Next Thursday (26), Flamengo will go to Montevideo (URU), where they will face Peñarol in the second leg of the Libertadores quarter-finals. Having lost 1-0 at Maracanã, only the positive result interests Mais Querido. Even with the disadvantage, Diego Ribas believes in the red-black turnaround.

“Flamengo is alive. Now, he spared starters (against Grêmio, in the Brasileirão)… I believe he will arrive strong for this game. I still believe in Flamengo”, said Diego Ribas, during the broadcast of Vasco 0x1 Palmeiras, on TV Globo. The former Mais Querido player was a commentator for the match, alongside former Fla Paulo Nunes.

In addition to giving his opinion on the Mais Querido match, Diego Ribas also said he thinks Atlético-MG will manage to eliminate Fluminense. In the first match, the Laranjeiras team took the lead, winning 1-0.

FLAMENGO AT DISADVANTAGE

Flamengo ended up being defeated in the first match match against Peñarol. Therefore, Mais Querido will need to make it 2-0 if they don't want to take penalties, as a score of 1-0 would be a draw on aggregate. However, Rubro-Negro must pay attention, as a draw on a normal score means Peñarol will qualify.

Now, Flamengo's squad focuses on the big decision against Peñarol, in the quarter-finals of the Libertadores. Mais Querido returns to the field next Thursday (26), at 7pm, in Uruguay. Remembering that Rubro-Negro needs to reverse the 1-0 score to qualify for the semi-finals.
