Flamengo was behind on the scoreboard, but pressed throughout the game, managing to equalize with a goal from Pedro. However, the team was unable to break through Cuiabá's defensive block to turn the match around. A highlight of the second half was the replacement of Werton and Lorran with Carlinhos and Matheus Gonçalves, something that Tite explained after the game.
Coach Tite highlighted the performance of goalkeeper Walter, from Cuiabá, as fundamental to the draw. “Walter had a great game, I think there were 11 shots on goal. With the draw, Flamengo reached 31 points, maintaining the isolated lead of the Brasileirão. Next Thursday (10), the team returns to Maracanã to face Fortaleza, at 8pm. Cuiabá, in turn, reached 14 points and occupies 15th place in the table.
