In recent weeks Rio Grande do Sulhas been suffering the consequences of the floods that devastated the population and left the entire Gaucho territory in a state of public calamity. In an interview with ESPN this Tuesday (14), the vice-president of the Board of Directors of Grêmio Eduardo Magrisso, commented on the decision of Flamengo and other teams in wanting to continue with the Brazilian Championship, the director harshly criticized the teams that want to continue with football, after the tragedy in Rio Grande do Sul, check it out.
“I would not like to comment on their position (Flamengo and palm trees). As a manager, I know how important it is to defend the rights of our clubs. I imagine that Flamengo and Palmeiras, who are in good condition in the championship, are defending the clubs' interests. But they are playing the video game in amateur mode and they will always win.”
“We hope to dissuade them from this position and that they come to agree with us, understanding our situation. We can't just look at our club, because we need opponents to compete. Without an equal opponent, it's bad, everyone loses.”
“Palmeiras, Flamengo and São Paulo, who made very tough demonstrations and, in a way, caused us some pain, we hope they change the position and understand us. The president (of Grêmio, Alberto) Guerra has been having conversations with them, trying to show our position.”
“The first appeal, and which seems obvious, is solidarity. But if solidarity is not enough to postpone the matches, the appeal I make is also definitive: sporting equality, competitiveness. It is one of the requirements of our Brazilian Championship. There is no comparison when your teams cannot play in their stadiums.”
“We understand that we are going to play in other stadiums, other states, away from the fans, this is already a huge loss, but training in other places, in a such a difficult situation, this goes against equality, which is a basic principle of our championship.”
“Otherwise, we will play video games in amateur mode and we will always win 10 to 0. Three teams, 15% of the Brasileirão, three out of 10 rounds cannot happen due to the tragedy that no one is to blame for. What we are asking is: let's postpone these three rounds until we know the situation.”
“Today, we don't know if we can leave Porto Alegre. A single entrance for access to receive everything a city of this size needs. The other entrance is temporary and only for emergencies. A big city with one access, our airport completely flooded. This puts us in a very disadvantageous situation. That's not why the championship exists. It’s so that whoever is best prepared wins, we don’t have that condition.”
Imperador had a good time in Italy, but he doesn't hide that the decision to leave Mengão was a wrong one on his part.

A longtime Flamengo idol, Adriano Imperador made history in 2009 by leading the team to the Brazilian Championship title. However, after the successful season, the striker left the club to join Roma (ITA) in 2010. Today, the former player recognizes that the decision wasn't the best of his career.

The Emperor also explained that he felt a kind of duty to Italian football: " Although I owed it to the Italian people , because when I left Inter I kind of left, I didn't give any explanations. It was something I felt I needed to do," he added.
Revealed in Flamengo 's youth academy, Adriano made his professional debut in 2000 and transferred to Inter Milan in 2001. His return to Rubro-Negro took place in 2009, with a huge impact: decisive goals, idolatry and the national title.
In total, adding up both spells, the striker played 92 matches, scored 45 goals and won the 2009 Brasileirão and the 2001 Carioca , establishing himself as one of the greatest idols in the club's history and is still in the fans' imagination.
While Adriano now follows as a fan, Flamengo returns to the field this Thursday (18) to face Estudiantes (ARG) , at Maracanã, for the first leg of the quarterfinals of the Copa Libertadores. The match will be broadcast by ESPN (pay TV) and Disney+ (streaming), starting at 9:30 pm (Brasília time).

Flamengo published an official statement on Monday night (15) to alert the Red-Black Nation about a scam circulating on social media. Fans reported having been victims when trying to purchase tickets for the games against Estudiantes, for the Copa Libertadores , and against Vasco, for the Brazilian Championship.
According to the club, there is a fake website imitating Flamengo's official visual identity with the aim of misleading fans. The statement reinforces that the only official ticket sales channel is ingressos.flamengo.com.br.
"We would like to emphasize that all official ticket sales are made exclusively through the above platform. We ask the Red-Black Nation to be extra vigilant and avoid accessing or making any purchases on unofficial websites . If you have any questions, always consult the club's official channels," Flamengo said.
For this Thursday's match (18), against Estudiantes, for the Copa Libertadores , there are only tickets left for the Maracanã Mais sector. The same is repeated for the duel against Vasco on the 21st, with only a few tickets remaining in the Maracanã Mais sector.
The club advises fans to report any ticket listings outside of official channels and not to make purchases through suspicious platforms . As the home team for both matches, Flamengo emphasizes that sales are only possible through the website ingressos.flamengo.com.br.
After leaving Mais Querido in 2024 and remaining free on the market, the Brazilian coach is the target of several clubs and national teams across the world of football.
