A recently released documentary about the fire at Ninho do Urubu, which occurred in 2019 and resulted in the death of ten young athletes from Flamengo's youth categories, has generated internal apprehension at the club. The production, which addresses hitherto unknown details about the incident, brought sensitive issues to light and raised debates about the responsibilities and actions of the Rio team.

The documentary, titled "Chamas no Ninho: A Verdade Revelada", was produced by an independent team of investigative journalists and released on a streaming platform last week. With testimonies from victims' families, former club employees and security experts, the film sheds light on possible negligence in the accommodation where the young people slept, as well as failures in the fire prevention system.

INTERNAL PROBLEMS

The release of the documentary caused a wave of concern among Flamengo managers, employees and fans. Furthermore, he highlighted the role of the pre-candidate for the club's presidency, Rodrigo Dunshee, who is currently in charge of compensation negotiations with the victims' families.

Dunshee, who is a lawyer and has previously held positions prominent in the legal department of Flamengo , was appointed by the current board to deal with legal issues related to the Ninho do Urubu case. However, his actions have been the subject of controversy, with criticism being directed both at the way he conducts negotiations and at the transparency of the process.

Family members of the victims and their representatives have expressed dissatisfaction with Dunshee's stance, alleging lack of dialogue and delay in resolving pending issues. Some claim that the compensation proposals presented by Flamengo are insufficient to repair the damage caused by the tragedy.

Idol of Flamengo, Rondinelli, who became known as God of Race, recently turned 70 and received a special documentary about his career and life. The former player has “Rondinelli – 70 years of Deus da Raça” available on Fla TV+ and GloboPlay platforms.

Flamengo published an excerpt of the documentary on its social networks with an emotional interview with Rondinelli . The eternal star says he knew he was a limited athlete and tells how he always made up for it. He sends an important message that shows how he became known as God of Race.

Rondinelli states that if he had to, he would die on the field wearing Flamengo's shirt, and as he says this, his eyes fill with tears , denoting the love he feels for Rubro-Negro to this day. The scene is moving and the idol even mentions his family and the Nation.

“Rondinelli always knew the limitations, but he never knew the limitations that if I had to die, playing for Flamengo, for any attitude , I would die on the field. Because Flamengo was everything in my life. Everything that Rondinelli and his family, my wife, Darli, my son, Antônio José, my daughter Fabiana and my grandson, my sisters and my parents. This is the essence of everything. To conclude the line of reasoning, it is the respect that this generation had for the 12th player. We never disappoint this Rubro-Negra Nation”, says Rondinelli.

Rondinelli scored a goal that started Flamengo's golden generation

Even Zico agrees and says that Rondinelli’s goal in 1978 “freed the generation”. It was only after Carioca's victory over Vasco that year that the generation was able to start stacking cups. Thus, the star was very important, especially after finishing second in the 76 and 77 State Championships.

In 78, Flamengo arrived under pressure and there was still a lot of distrust towards those players. But the goal at lights out made Mengão lift the cup, blowing up the Maracanã and kick-starting the most memorable period in the club's history.
