On the afternoon of this Wednesday (04), FIFA announced that the 2030 World Cup will have an unprecedented format with competition for the first time on three continents. The main venues for the World Cup will be neighboring countries Spain, Portugal and Morocco, but there will be opening games in Uruguay, Argentina and Paraguay.
The tournament's debut will take place at the Estadio Centenário in Montevideo, as a tribute to the first edition, in 1930. Because of this, Arrascaeta and Varela will be able to debut in the 2030 World Cup at home, in Uruguay. To do this, players need to maintain a high level to be called up and compete in another edition of the World Cup. It is worth remembering that the midfielder will be 36 years old and the full-back will be 37.
After the first games in Uruguay, Argentina and Paraguay, the World Cup will have its remaining matches in Portugal, Spain and Morocco, divided between European countries and African. The FIFA Council took the decision this Wednesday (04), with a statement from the entity that was a unanimous agreement.
“In a divided world, FIFA and football are coming together. The FIFA Council, representing the entire football world, unanimously agreed to celebrate the centenary of the World Cup, the first edition of which was played in Uruguay in 1930, in the most appropriate way. As a result, a celebration will take place in South America and three South American countries – Uruguay, Argentina and Paraguay – will host one match each at the 2030 World Cup. The first of these three matches will, of course, be played in the stadium where it all began, at the mythical Centenario Stadium in Montevideo, precisely to celebrate the centenary edition of the World Cup”, said the president of FIFA, Gianni Infantino.
The president of Conmebol also celebrated the opening of the World Cup in Uruguay and commented on Chile's departure. He also said that the competition could not be far from South America, as that is where it all began 100 years ago.
“The Centenary World Cup, 100 years after the first, could not be far from South America, where it all began. The 2030 World Cup will be played on three continents. We will start here and we will finish in Europe, where the final will be”, he declared.
” The initial idea was to have just two countries, Argentina and Uruguay, then we added Paraguay and later Chile. FIFA's decision, not Conmebol's, was to do it in three countries. But we will work to ensure that Chile is included in some way”, said the president of Conmebol.

Last Tuesday, the candidate for re-election for mayor of Rio de Janeiro, Eduardo Paes, denied the journalist Ancelmo Gois, from Globo. In a post on Instagram, the mayor informed that the city hall will be responsible for removing the megastructure on the gas meter site, different from what was reported. Furthermore, he guaranteed that Flamengo will have its new stadium, with the best conditions and security.
The news published by Ancelmo informs that Flamengo would have to pay R$100 million to remove a large gas structure present on land acquired by the club, which is owned by CEG and CEG-Rio, which are companies that are part of the gas concessionaire Naturgy.
According to the article, the companies were informed that Flamengo is the responsible for bearing the expenses, as provided for in one of the annexes to the land purchase and transfer contract. The clause, however, does not have a specified limit.
Paes stated that the values for the transfer of the structure are different from what was pointed out in the article by Ancelmo Gois. Furthermore, it exempted Flamengo from any responsibility, and that the city hall has been planning to remove it for years.
