In the behind-the-scenes universe of Flamengo, a recent survey carried out by the profile @UrubuTT_ brought to light a competitive scenario for the club's presidential election. The data shows a slight advantage for Wallim Vasconcelos, who leads with 42% of voting intentions, followed by José Carlos (Bap), with 40%. This result indicates a technical tie, reflecting the fierce dispute between the two candidates.

The survey, which included the participation of influential figures such as Dunshee de Abranches, Bap and Wallim, demonstrates that Flamengo's presidential election is far from being defined. The small difference between the candidates suggests that each of them has a significant contingent of support within the fans and club members.

CLOSE DISPUTES AND A "RIGHT" CANDIDATE

Despite the survey numbers, there is a determining factor that may have been decisive in choosing the candidate to be supported by Wallim: Maurício Gomes de Mattos, former vice-president of consulates and embassies of Flamengo. Gomes de Mattos' decision appears to have further consolidated Wallim's candidacy, which was already gaining strength behind the scenes.

Maurício Gomes de Mattos' decision is crucial, as his history and influence within the club are undeniable. During his tenure, he played a key role in expanding Flamengo's network of consulates and embassies, strengthening the club's brand internationally. This experience could be an important asset in Wallim's campaign, who now has solid support from a key figure within Flamengo.

Thus, in the last five Superligas, the Belo Horizonte team won four titles and one runner-up. In the squad, there are athletes who have played for the Brazilian team, such as Thaísa, Olympic champion and bronze medalist in this year's edition, in Paris.

Peñarol [if they win the Libertadores] and Olímpia [if River wins the Libertadores] are the other teams in the running.

What will the Super Mundial be like?

< The competition organized by FIFA will be played for the first time with 32 teams next year. The United States will host the first edition of the tournament in this format. The 32 teams will be divided into eight groups with four teams each, with them facing each other in a single round. The top two in each group will advance to the round of 16. The knockout stage will be played in a single game.

The places are divided into: 12 for Europe, six for South America, four for Asia, Africa and North, Central America and the Caribbean, one for Oceania and one for the host country.

In addition to the remaining MLS spot, which has not yet defined its representative, the other available entry belongs to South America. It is destined for the champion of the edition of 2024 of the Libertadores. If River Plate wins the title, it will be transferred to the Conmebol ranking in FIFA and would already have an owner: Olímpia-PAR.

After Flamengo's 1-0 defeat to Peñarol (URU), Tite was the target of insults from fans at Maracanã. The coach even became a recurring theme in questions directed to candidates for the club's presidency. In interviews, the main candidates presented divergent opinions about Tite's continued leadership of the team.

Rodrigo Dunshee, a candidate supported by the situation, praised Tite, but stated that he has not yet made a definitive decision about the permanence of the team. coach if elected. Luiz Eduardo Baptista, BAP, highlighted that he will need time to evaluate the issue.

Wallim Vasconcellos, in turn, was the most direct in relation to Tite's situation, stating that, if elected, the contract of the coach will not be renewed. Maurício Gomes de Mattos adopted a more evasive stance, without committing himself. Finally, Delair Dumbrosck conditioned Tite's continuation on the results achieved by the end of the season.

Tite's contract

Tite's contract with Flamengo runs until December of this year, the which puts the decision on its renewal in the hands of the club's next president. The termination fine is calculated based on the technical committee's monthly salary, which is around R$1 million, multiplied by the number of months remaining in the contract. Therefore, if Tite were fired now, with three months left until the end of his contract, the fine would be approximately R$3 million. However, the current board does not plan to fire the coach before the end of the contract.

Recent statements from the main candidates about Tite:

< /b> Rodrigo Dunshee:

“Tite is an exceptional coach, he is our commander. I haven't had the opportunity to discuss the future with him yet, but I plan to do so soon. For now, I don’t have a definitive position on this matter.” (Interview with the Jannuzzi & Abuzze podcast).

Luiz Eduardo Baptista (BAP):

“Given the circumstances that Flamengo faces, it would be deeply unfair to evaluate Tite's performance in a negative way . The club was in a much more complicated situation before his arrival, and he is still competing in three competitions. Responsibility for challenges does not rest exclusively with the technical committee. Let’s calmly evaluate what’s best for Flamengo.” (Interview with the Coluna do Fla podcast).

Wallim Vasconcellos:

“Particularly, I don’t like Tite’s style of play. His contract ends at the end of the year and I don't intend to renew it. Football needs to move into the 21st century, and I don’t believe that Tite is aligned with what we imagine for Flamengo from 2025 onwards.” (Interview with Lance newspaper).

Maurício Gomes de Mattos (MGM):

At campaign events, Maurício Gomes de Mattos is usually evasive about Tite's stay, stating that he intends to put together a professional structure to define the ideal coach for the beginning of his management in 2025.

Delair Dumbrosck:

“Whether Tite will continue or not, the results will determine. He is an excellent coach, he has a great commission, but only the results will tell.” (Interview on YouTube by Coluna do Fla).
