After intense weeks of training, Flamengo Feminino is ready for another challenge in the Brasileirão. This Saturday (17), the team will face Avaí Kindermann, who is fighting to escape the relegation zone. With the opposing team in second-to-last place in the table, Mengão is looking for a victory to consolidate itself among the top eight and advance in the competition.

Flamengo Feminino traveled yesterday to Santa Catarina, where they will face Avaí Kindermann this Saturday (17), at 11am, at the Carlos Alberto Costa Neves Stadium. The Meninas da Gávea are doing their last training session this morning, focused on victory and qualifying for the next phase of the Brasileirão.

Flamengo will approach the game with a lot of preparation, as they are coming off a period of training extensive. The team's last game was on June 15, that is, two months ago. Since then, Meninas da Gávea has been undergoing strong weeks of training to resolve the main problems.

So far, Mengo is in eighth place, which is the last one that guarantees a place for the next phase. With two games remaining – the next against Ferroviária, on Wednesday (21) – Maurício Salgado's team will face two finals.

Flamengo has a positive record against Avaí Kindermann

Despite the difference in positions, Avaí Kindermann is a traditional Brazilian women's football team and Flamengo needs to be careful. However, Meninas da Gávea are confident in their positive record against their opponents.

In history, Flamengo and Avaí Kindermann have faced each other eight times in the Brasileirão Feminino. Mengão won five and lost the other three. In the last meeting, in March 2023, Sole James, Duda and Crivelari scored the goals in Mais Querido's 3-0 victory.

Last Tuesday, the candidate for re-election for mayor of Rio de Janeiro, Eduardo Paes, denied the journalist Ancelmo Gois, from Globo. In a post on Instagram, the mayor informed that the city hall will be responsible for removing the megastructure on the gas meter site, different from what was reported. Furthermore, he guaranteed that Flamengo will have its new stadium, with the best conditions and security.

The news published by Ancelmo informs that Flamengo would have to pay R$100 million to remove a large gas structure present on land acquired by the club, which is owned by CEG and CEG-Rio, which are companies that are part of the gas concessionaire Naturgy.

According to the article, the companies were informed that Flamengo is the responsible for bearing the expenses, as provided for in one of the annexes to the land purchase and transfer contract. The clause, however, does not have a specified limit.

Eduardo Paes guarantees that the removal is the responsibility of Rio's city hall.

Paes stated that the values for the transfer of the structure are different from what was pointed out in the article by Ancelmo Gois. Furthermore, it exempted Flamengo from any responsibility, and that the city hall has been planning to remove it for years.

“They are making me defend @flamengo more than I would like: let it be clear that this is not the The cost of this transfer and when it happens will be the responsibility of the city of Rio, which knows that this structure cannot be in an area that is already receiving so many residential buildings. It's been in our plans for a long time! Flamengo will have its new stadium there in the gasometer with all the quality and safety that the region demands and deserves. Period!”, published the mayor.

The Flamengo takes the field today for the Brazilian Women's Championship, facing Ferroviária at 3pm at the Luso-Brasileiro stadium. The match marks the last round of the first phase of the competition, a crucial moment for the Rio team. The Flamengo team has been preparing intensely for this clash, aware of the importance of finishing the group stage with a positive result. Ferroviária, this afternoon's opponent, is one of the most traditional teams in Brazilian women's football, known for its competitiveness and history of achievements. Therefore, Flamengo needs to be attentive and concentrated to overcome an opponent who will certainly offer resistance.

A DISPUTED GAME

In preparation for the confrontation, the coach do Flamengo should have emphasized the importance of maintaining defensive consistency and attacking efficiency. The red-black team demonstrated, throughout the competition, a significant offensive capacity, but it is crucial that this effectiveness is maintained and, if possible, improved in this final game of the first phase.

In addition, the match today also serves as a thermometer to evaluate the team's evolution throughout the championship. Flamengo started the competition with ups and downs, but gained pace and improved its performance as the rounds progressed. This growth will be fundamental for the decisive phases to come.

In the context of the Brazilian Women's Championship, each point won can make a big difference in defining the crossovers for the next phases. A positive result today could ensure Flamengo a more comfortable position and possibly avoid a more complicated clash in the quarter-finals.
