Last Monday (31), Vasco sent a letter to the CBF and BEPE so that the classic against Flamengo, valid for the fifth round of the Brasileirão, will be held in São Januário. Thus, commentator Lédio Carmona, from SporTV, stated that the Cruzmaltino club is not welcome at Maracanã, and that it should have the right to face Mais Querido in its stadium.
Vasco is not welcome at Maracanã.
Maracanã is no longer a public property. This thing that is public is only on paper. Because when Vasco wants to play there, it can't. So, for years, Vasco has been trying to play three or four times a year at Maracanã, at most, and it always gets a "no" in its face. It has to go to court, and it usually gets it, but it's a strain on everyone. So, I don't see any obligation on Vasco's part to take the game against Flamengo to Maracanã. Even though this culture exists. Because, if it can't play other games at Maracanã, and it only asks to play a few, why does it have an obligation to take (the derby against Flamengo) to Maracanã? " said Lédio Carmona.
It is worth remembering that in recent years, Vasco has played its matches against Flamengo at Maracanã. In the current season, the Cruzmaltino changed the location of the Carioca semifinal to the Nilton Santos Stadium , with the aim of taking advantage of the home field advantage for Vasco.
Flamengo receives the fees and commercial rights as if it were the home team.
" And there's another detail: when he plays against Flamengo, even though Vasco is the home team, Flamengo receives the fees and commercial rights as if it were the home team, not Vasco. And according to Pedrinho, when he plays against Fluminense, as the home team, Fluminense allows Vasco to receive the fees as the home team, not as the away team. So there's this commercial war involved too. I think he has strong arguments to defend the club trying to take this game to São Januário. I think his right to want to play at São Januário is legitimate," he added.
The holding of classics against Flamengo at São Januário has been prohibited since 2017. On that occasion, the Mais Querido won at the Vasco stadium by 1-0, with a goal by Everton Ribeiro, and rival fans fought among themselves in the stands, in addition to general confusion on the field.
While Vasco continues trying to take the classic to São Januário, Flamengo is focused on its debut in the Libertadores. Rubro-Negro returns to the field this Thursday (3), in a clash against Deportivo Táchira (VEN) , at 9:30 pm, in Venezuela.

The final will be broadcast live on free-to-air TV Globo, starting at 4:30 p.m. (Brasília time) . Gustavo Villani will be the commentator, with Maestro Júnior and Paulo Nunes, both of whom have played for the Rio de Janeiro club's youth academy.
Valencia, Sevilla and Porto have approached representatives for the defender, but Rubro-Negro does not intend to negotiate the player in the current 2025 window.

Flamengo recently rejected inquiries from three European clubs for defender Léo Pereira . According to the ge portal, Valencia, Sevilla, and Porto have expressed interest in the player , seeking information on the conditions for a potential deal.
Despite contact from representatives, the club's board made it clear that it has no intention of negotiating the player during this window . However, communication between the parties will remain open for future discussions.
Currently, the only way for Léo Pereira to leave the Rio de Janeiro club would be to pay the full release clause, set at 60 million euros (approximately R$380 million). A similar situation occurs with Léo Ortiz , who has also been targeted by European clubs.
Signed in 2020 to replace Pablo Marí, the defender arrived after the Spaniard's departure to Arsenal . At the time, Rubro-Negro paid around €7 million (approximately R$32 million) to Athletico-PR.
Since wearing the red-and-black jersey, Léo Pereira has made 251 appearances, scored 15 goals, and provided five assists. The defender has won a Copa Libertadores, a Campeonato Brasileiro , two Copa do Brasil titles, a Recopa Sudamericana, a Supercopa Rei, and four state titles.
Spanish defender, champion of the Libertadores and Brasileirão in 2019, has attracted interest from the Minas Gerais team, but is currently enjoying a good run of form in Italian football.

Pablo Marí, one of the key players in Flamengo's Libertadores and Brasileirão triumphs in 2019, may be in Atlético-MG's sights. According to Italian journalist Nicolò Schira, a transfer market specialist, the Minas Gerais club has expressed interest in signing the Spanish defender , currently a starter for Fiorentina.
"Two foreign clubs have shown interest in defender Pablo Marí ," Schira revealed on social media. " Atlético Mineiro is interested in defender Pablo Marí ," the reporter added.
After excelling at Flamengo , Pablo Marí was sold to Arsenal in England in 2020 for 14 million euros. The defender also spent time on loan at Udinese and Monza , before being acquired permanently by the Italian club in 2023.
Thanks to the maintenance of 40% of the economic rights at the time of the transfer, Flamengo made a profit of around R$14.6 million from the negotiation and still has to receive a portion of 680 thousand euros (approximately R$4.35 million), an amount that should be paid soon.
In early 2025 , Pablo Marí transferred to Fiorentina, responding to a request from coach Raffaele Palladino , who had previously worked with him at Monza. With a contract until June 2026, the defender is a key player in the Italian club's defense, making an immediate release difficult.
