Former midfielder Elano was signed by Flamengoin 2014, with Grêmio, on loan. The athlete, who had returned to Brazil four years earlier, was unable to play the same football at Mais Querido. This past Friday (7), the former player revealed that he asked to leave the club due to the frustration of not being able to perform at a high level.

"I left after six months. I understood that I wasn't delivering, neither was the team. We weren't going to win anything. Libertadores, Brasileiro, we could fight, but not win. I called the president, who was Bandeira de Mello, I thanked him and asked him to tear up my contract, which I did. I didn't want to receive a real and I needed to leave. He said he'd never seen this in his life, but I said I wouldn't be able to play football if I wasn't performing," said Elano, in an interview with 'Charla Podcast' this Friday. fair (07).

"I had a great contract. Who wouldn't want to live in Barra and play for Flamengo? I made that dream come true. I scored goals at Maracanã with the national team and with Flamengo. I have a love and great respect for the club. When you are at a club, you have an institution to take care of; this institution is a company and needs to be taken care of in all aspects", concluded the former midfielder.

PASSAGEM FROM ELANO FOR FLAMENGO

The former player arrived at Flamengo in 2014, but left Mais Querido in the same year and with few games. That's because he played in just 15 matches for the club. During this period, he scored three goals and provided one assist. Elano left Rubro-Negro for Chennaiyin, in India, where he stayed until 2016, the year he retired.

AND FLAMENGO?

Without Elano, Flamengo managed to restructure itself and win titles. Furthermore, Mais Querido is looking for another Brasileirão and to do so they will face Grêmio, this coming Thursday (13th), at 8pm, at Maracanã.
