Without a renewal agreement, agent talks about next steps for the player's career

Gabigol is six months away from ending his contract with Flamengo, which ends in December this year. Without a renewal agreement so far, the player's agent, Junior Pedroso, commented again on the athlete's future. According to the businessman, if Gabigol's departure does not happen in the transfer window that begins on July 10, they will act calmly in January.
“Regarding a possible transfer, we will act calmly. If not in this window, we will act calmly in January. There is no rush”, declared Junior Pedroso. In short, Gabigol was removed from the game against Cruzeiro on Sunday (30) and from this Wednesday's game (03) against Atlético-MG.
In an interview with journalist Mauro Cezar Pereira, Junior Pedroso clarified rumors about an alleged conflict with Gabigol. “I’ve been working with Gabriel for around 14 years, since childhood. We went through many situations together until we got here. My relationship with him and his family is very trusting”, he stated.
There was speculation about a possible disagreement between Gabigol and his manager, Junior Pedroso, a subject discussed at the Flamengo Deliberative Council meeting last Monday (01). However, the agent categorically denied any conflict.
It is important to highlight that Gabigol refused the last contract renewal proposal made by Flamengo. The club proposed a 50% salary increase, but only for another year of the contract. Feeling devalued by the short duration of the new contract, Gabigol did not accept the offer. Initially, the club had promised a five-year renewal, later reduced to three. Therefore, Junior Pedroso publicly stated that he would start conversations with teams interested in signing the player.

Flamengo drew 1-1 with Cuiabá on Saturday night (6), at Maracanã, in a match valid for the 15th round of the Brazilian Championship. Despite the unexpected result, Rubro-Negro secured the lead in the competition until the end of the round. After the game, coach Tite analyzed the team's performance.
Flamengo was behind on the scoreboard, but pressed throughout the game, managing to equalize with a goal from Pedro. However, the team was unable to break through Cuiabá's defensive block to turn the match around. A highlight of the second half was the replacement of Werton and Lorran with Carlinhos and Matheus Gonçalves, something that Tite explained after the game.
Coach Tite highlighted the performance of goalkeeper Walter, from Cuiabá, as fundamental to the draw. “Walter had a great game, I think there were 11 shots on goal. In a volume created, with a series of adversities, I will not talk about the calendar, I have already said it and I do not want to be repetitive. We had the search until the final moment. The game presented itself, we tried to use two pivots, we replaced the boys to create the alternatives we needed and here is the support for the boys, Lorran and Werton”, analyzed Tite.
GAME STRATEGY
Tite sought greater coordination in midfield, using Gerson and Lorran as play creators. “I wanted to work on the projection. I looked for an articulating player to give more volume. As I have Lorran together with Gerson, who are two articulators, they look for each other, the idea was to have them. Then, we put together a strategy to pierce their middle and lower block (Cuiabá). We had to make the movement in the last third”, he explained.
Tite also highlighted the difficulties faced due to the tight schedule, which hampered the team's preparation. “It’s difficult not to talk about the calendar issue. We analyze the opponent and there is no way to train for this game. You put it on video and try to make sure things arrive on time. It was the third game in a row in less than 72 hours. We weren't able to maintain the regularity to put ourselves in front of the goal, to have a cleaner finish. We have to recognize that, on the other side, Walter was on a bright day”, added the coach.
With the draw, Flamengo reached 31 points, maintaining the isolated lead of the Brasileirão. Next Thursday (10), the team returns to Maracanã to face Fortaleza, at 8pm. Cuiabá, in turn, reached 14 points and occupies 15th place in the table.
Rubro-Negro remains in the lead despite the draw, but the advantage could decrease

With the result, Flamengo maintains its isolated lead in the Brasileirão. Right behind, with 27 points, are Botafogo, Palmeiras, Bahia and São Paulo, the latter beating Bragantino in the round. Flamengo's advantage, which is currently four points, could decrease to three or even one point, depending on the results of their direct competitors' games.
Even if Botafogo, Palmeiras, Bahia and São Paulo win their games, Flamengo will end the weekend at the top of the competition. Palmeiras and Bahia face each other at Allianz Parque, while Botafogo hosts Atlético-MG in Rio de Janeiro. Cuiabá, with 14 points, occupies 15th place in the table.
With the draw, Flamengo reached 31 points and guaranteed the isolated leadership of the Brasileirão. The team's next appointment will be on Thursday (10), at 8 pm, again at Maracanã, against Fortaleza. Cuiabá, which is fighting to move away from the relegation zone, has reached 14 points and is looking to recover in the competition.
