Forward Gabigol has been going through his worst phase with the Flamengo Mantle. This is because the player has had a goal drought. Rubro Negro's number 10 has not been in the net for 12 games. The last time he scored a goal was on August 20th, against Coritiba. Furthermore, the player has been quite undisciplined on the field and has received silly cards.
In recent weeks, the English newspaper The Mirror published that Manchester United (ING) would be looking for a new striker to reinforce the cast. As a result, Gabigol's name was mentioned in the team from the northwest of England to fill the position.
To count on Gávea's number 10, the "Red Devil" would be willing to offer Antony on loan. Furthermore, according to the newspaper, Milan (ITA) would also be interested in the Mais Querido player. However, Rubro Negro's football vice-president, Marcos Braz, denied the rumors.
The player's contract renewal with Flamengo is close to being completed, however, there are still some impasses to be resolved. Gabigol will receive a contract for another 5 years and a salary increase. However, the player's agents are already targeting foreign football.
The striker's staff awaits proposals from abroad to discuss whether it is worth Gabigol leaving Flamengo in 2024. Therefore, it is possible that a proposal will arrive of Europe for the athlete. However, he has not demonstrated all the football that led him to be signed by Rubro Negro in 2019.

Tite defined Flamengo and announced the 11 starters who will face Peñarol, this Thursday, at Maracanã, at 7pm. De la Cruz returns to the starting lineup in place of Léo Ortiz, and Alex Sandro and Plata were retained. The duel with the Uruguayans is the first between the teams in the quarter-finals of the Copa Conmebol Libertadores.
Alex Sandro and Plata, debutants in last Sunday's classic, remain in the team after having good performances in the draw against Vasco. Gabigol is now out of the relationship due to fibrosis in the posterior muscle of his right thigh. Flamengo, in a statement, reported that the athlete did not suffer any injury in the region. "The Clube de Regatas do Flamengo informs that the athlete Gabriel Barbosa underwent tests that did not diagnose an injury to the posterior muscle of his right thigh. However, the Technical Committee opted for precaution and did not list him for the duel against Peñarol due to fibrosis in the region. Gabi is handed over to physiotherapists and physical trainers for the series of decisive games of the season."
