Forward Darío Benedetto, 34, was announced as the newest reinforcement for Querétaro, last placed in the Mexican Championship. The Argentine's name was mentioned by coach Tite in a press conference after Flamengo's classification against Bahia in the Copa do Brasil. Benedetto, who terminated his contract with Boca Juniors, was linked to Flamengo as a possible replacement for Pedro.

Rumors of a possible signing of Benedetto by Flamengo left Tite angry. The coach vented during the press conference after the 1-0 victory against Bahia, in which Arrascaeta scored the goal that guaranteed Rubro-Negro's qualification for the semi-finals of the Copa do Brasil for the fourth consecutive time.

“We are at a time when there is a lot of fake news, a lot of wrong information. The information is false. Whoever said (that the coach called Benedetto) lied. I would like to know the person's name, even to put it on air. I wanted to say the name of the guy (journalist who wrote the story). I don't even know Benedetto, I only played against him”, said Tite.

Marcos Braz rules out hiring a replacement for Pedro and praises Flamengo's attackers

Marcos Braz, vice-president of football at Flamengo, stated that the club will not make any more signings in 2024. After the victory against Bahia and qualifying for the semi-finals of the Copa do Brasil, the director gave an interview in the mixed zone of Maracanã. Braz explained that Rubro-Negro even considered signing a new striker after Pedro's injury, but decided to trust the strikers already present in the squad.

“We believe in the end. There were four hired at the beginning of the year, four now. We raised the possibility of bringing in a striker, but we understood, talking to everyone, that we needed to bring in someone to actually solve it”, commented Braz.

With the need for reinforcements in the attack , other names began to appear at the negotiating tables. The Dutchman Memphis Depay and the Frenchman Anthony Martial were offered to the CRF.
