Mengão presidential candidate claims that using his idol's name could make it difficult to find a partner for Naming Rights
|
0Flamengo's presidential candidate, Rodrigo Dunshee, clarified that the club's future stadium should not be named after Zico or anyone else. According to the current general and legal vice-president of Rubro-Negro, this choice seeks to avoid limitations on the commercialization of the site's naming rights, an important source of revenue for the project.
“The right thing to do is not to include the name of any person, whether living or deceased. We can continue to honor Zico in millions of other ways, but this one, I'm sure he will understand, because it's for the good of Flamengo”, said Dunshee in an interview with Charla Podcast.
Advances in stadium design
Dunshee said that, in the coming days, a new stage in the development of the project will be announced, the result of the partnership between Flamengo and the city of Rio de Janeiro. This announcement will include the amount that the club will receive for the construction potential of the area where the stadium will be built.
“It is a revenue that we will have, based on R$ 500 million, which will come from city hall. In the next few days, we will announce this with Mayor Eduardo Paes, fulfilling a campaign promise”, began Dunshee.
In addition, the second phase of the project will be presented, with more details about the work and the expected schedule.
“Behind the two goals there will be a popular space with around 20, 25 thousand seats, but In the next few days, Flamengo will present, not the total definitive project, but a much more advanced one, which will already be able to see a lot”, he revealed.
Elections in December
With Flamengo presidential elections scheduled for December 9th , Rodrigo Dunshee, current candidate, reinforces his commitment to building his own stadium, seen as a historic milestone for the club.
With the departure of Gabigol, Flamengo opens its radar to replace the vacancy in the Mais Querido squad
|
0O Flamengo continues to keep an eye on the market in search of possible replacements for Gabigol, who could leave the club in the future. Among the names mapped out by the board is Cucho Hernández, a Colombian striker who has stood out for the Columbus Crew in Major League Soccer (MLS). With impressive numbers this season, the 24-year-old player is seen as a promising option to reinforce Rubro-Negro's offensive sector.
Cucho Hernández has been attracting attention for his performance in MLS. In 27 matches played this season, the Colombian scored 19 goals and contributed 10 assists, becoming one of the main highlights of the North American league. Hired by the Columbus Crew in 2022, the striker has a contract with the club until the end of 2025, which gives Flamengo a strategic deadline to try to negotiate. The next transfer window could be decisive, as it would be one of the last opportunities for the United States team to profit from the player's departure.
REPLACEMENT IN THE CHAMPIONSHIP AND IN THE CLUB
The search for a replacement for Gabigol, who has been a key player in the red-black attack since 2019, it is part of strategic planning by Flamengo to maintain the level of competitiveness. Although there is no imminent departure, the board is working with the scenario of possible proposals from abroad for the striker, known for his history of titles and top scores. In this context, Cucho Hernández emerges as a viable alternative, combining youth, international experience and consistent performance.
ANALYSIS OF THE MARKET FOR THE MOST WANTED
The hiring of Cucho Hernández, however, will not be a simple task . With the global market paying attention to MLS highlights, Flamengo could face competition from European and Latin American clubs interested in the Colombian. Furthermore, the value set by the Columbus Crew could be a challenge, considering the athlete's appreciation after his recent performances. Still, Flamengo trusts in its negotiating power and the attractiveness of the sporting project to convince the player to wear the red-black mantle.
The possible arrival of Cucho Hernández at Flamengo would be a strategic move to strengthen the squad and ensure a smooth transition if Gabigol leaves the club. With impressive numbers in MLS and a profile aligned with the Red and Black style of play, the Colombian emerges as one of the most promising names on the market. Now, we just have to wait for developments in the next transfer window to see if Flamengo will be able to make this big bet come true.
