Major League Soccer (MLS) has invested heavily in signing major international stars, such as Lionel Messi, Luis Suárez and Olivier Giroud, to increase the league's visibility. However, the name that has stood out the most this season is that of Brazilian Evander, 26 years old, revealed by Vasco and currently playing for Portland Timbers.
Evander occupies the top of the list of goal participations in the MLS, with 33 in 25 matches. The midfielder has already scored 15 goals, being the sixth highest scorer in the championship, and leads the assists, with 18 passes to goal. He surpasses names like Luciano Acosta, from Cincinnati, and even Messi, from Inter Miami, who only played 15 times this season.
FLAMENGO'S INTEREST AND EUROPE ON THE HORIZON
Recently, Mais Querido showed interest in counting on Evander's talent. Marcos Braz, vice-president of football at the Rio club, publicly defended the signing of the athlete. However, Portland Timbers turned down the proposal, after having spent 10 million euros to sign him from Midtjylland, in Denmark.
Evander, who recognizes Mengão's greatness, commented on the interest: “I was very happy to be remembered, especially by a club like Flamengo, one of the biggest in Brazil and America. Even though I have a history at Vasco, I wouldn’t be the first or the last to change rivals”, said the player. He also highlighted his desire to play for major European clubs and the Brazilian national team, although he recognizes the difficulties of making this transition directly from MLS.
CONSISTENCE IN MLS AND VOTING FOR THE ALL-STAR GAME
Evander's good performance in the MLS earned him the opportunity to play in the North American league's All-Star Game, where he was a starter. Despite the 4-1 defeat to the stars of the Mexican League, the feat is further proof of the player's relevance in the competition. He was accompanied by Gabriel Pec, from LA Galaxy, another Brazilian who also participated in the event.
The striker is unable to continue as a starter for Raposa due to Kaio Jorge's good form and is already looking forward to a move abroad.

Flamengo called a meeting of the Deliberative Council for next Tuesday (19) which will have as its agenda the approval of the new master sponsor of professional football. The decision comes shortly after the termination of the contract with Pixbet , which ended this Thursday (14).
The battle for the most prestigious spot at the Sacred Mantle is between two sports betting giants: Superbet and Betano . The former already has its brand on the uniforms of São Paulo and Fluminense; the latter is a sponsor of the Copa do Brasil and the Campeonato Brasileiro , reinforcing its market share.
According to Poder360, the Flamengo board is seeking not only the highest financial value but also a solid partner with a positive image who prioritizes Flamengo in its marketing and expansion plans. The goal is to establish a strategic, stable, and long-term partnership. 7k Bet expressed interest but withdrew from the competition.
The previous contract with Pixbet provided for R$105 million in the first year, R$115 million in the second, and R$125 million in the third, plus bonuses. Superbet's proposal, according to the publication, exceeds R$200 million annually—a figure that, if confirmed , would set a new record in Brazilian soccer.
The amount offered by Betano has not yet been revealed. The final decision will be made by the board members next week and will determine which brand will occupy the most valuable jersey in South America in the coming days. Therefore, next Sunday (17), Flamengo should have the space empty for the game against Internacional.

The former Flamengo player entered the field and, in his first decisive participation, provided the assist for Atlético's comeback goal in the round of 16 of the South American, at Arena MRV.
The move stemmed from a quick counterattack, catching the Argentine defense off guard. The ball quickly reached Reinier , who, with a chest-touch worthy of a footvolley, set up Hulk for a first-time finish to make it 2-1.
