In the match valid for the 22nd round of the Brazilian Championship, the draw of Flamengo against Palmeiras was not the only bad news that the red and black fans received. In the 12th minute of the first half, striker Everton Cebolinha was injured alone and had to leave the field of play. After the match, Flamengo confirmed that the injury was a rupture of the Achilles tendon in the left leg. Everton Cebolinha will undergo surgery on site and will be out for a minimum period of four six months and no longer plays this season. The attacker, however, has faith in a speedy recovery and published on his Instagram account an image of himself in black and white and in the same sequence, a color image of a lion, in the caption of both photos, the player declared: “I will be back later.” STRONG!”

Cebolinha's wife, Isa Ranieri, in a post on Instagram stories, posted a photo with the attacker in the hospital, where she admitted her frustration with her husband's injury, but declared her faith in Everton's prompt recovery, in addition to declaring his love for the Flamengo player.

“Yesterday our hug was full of tears and frustration. Seeing you leaving the field like that killed me. But I cannot and must not forget the verse that marks our lives so much: everything works together for the good of those who love God. (...) Everything has a purpose, and you will come out even STRONGER and more resilient. And our hug in a while will be one of VICTORY and JOY”, wrote Isa Ranieri in the photo

The 2024 season had been Cebolinha’s best since he arrived at Flamengo. The striker started 32 games for coach Tite's team and has been one of the Red and Black's highlights with six goals scored and five assists, drawing praise from Flamengo fans. However, the series of injuries in the last month hampered the player's performance, which will miss Mais Querido until 2025.

Last Sunday (15), Flamengo and Vasco drew 1-1, at Maracanã, in a match valid for the 26th round of the Brazilian Championship. The result, although frustrating for the red and blacks, who dominated much of the match, kept them eight points behind leader Botafogo.

Mais Querido entered the field imposing his pace and controlling the actions for most of the game. The red-black goal was scored by Gerson, who has been standing out in recent matches. However, CRF conceded the draw in the final minutes, which prevented a more significant approach to the classification table.

STRATEGY FOR THE FINAL STRAIGHT OF THE BRASILEIRÃO

Even with the difference in points for Botafogo, the technical committee, led by Tite, devised a strategy focused on keeping the team competitive until the last rounds. According to information from the Coluna do Fla portal, the objective is to arrive "alive" in the fight for the title in the final five rounds. Matheus Bachi, assistant coach, believes that the recent good performance against Bahia and Vasco could be an indication that the team is on the right track to fight for the top again.
