Everton Ribeiro, the number 7 who won hearts and titles since his arrival at Flamengo in 2017, said goodbye to the club. Over these years, he has become not only a talented player, but an undisputed leader. The successful trajectory included winning all the main titles for the club, and in 2019, he assumed the responsibility of being captain.

LEADERSHIP THAT REMAINS

In an interview with FlaTV, Everton Ribeiro opened the game about his departure to Bahia and highlighted that leadership will not be a gap in the red and black squad. "Now, leadership is what will not be lacking. There is Gerson, who has returned more mature, with the mindset of a team leader, who has to bring this out and is already doing it with mastery. Arrasca himself, who is not very to talk about, but he was a very important leader for us this year. There's Gabi, who already has the experience, Bruno Henrique himself, Pablo, who also has a very strong leadership with us," said the now former captain.

The statement highlights Everton Ribeiro's confidence in the squad, highlighting names like Gerson, Arrascaeta, Gabigol, Bruno Henrique and Pablo as potential leaders. The midfielder believes that the team is prepared to maintain its level of competitiveness and seek titles, also counting on the coach's leadership.

"I believe that the team is prepared to remain strong, competing for titles. Leadership is not will be missed. There is also the teacher who knows how to be a great leader. Flamengo has everything it takes to continue conquering and fighting where it belongs, which is how it is at the top of the championships," concluded Everton Ribeiro.

A SUCCESSION OF THE ARMBAND: GERSON IS THE BIG FAVORITE

With the departure of Everton Ribeiro, the question arises as to who will inherit the captain's belt. Gabigol, who ended the 2023 season on the bench, makes room for Gerson's rise as the big favorite to take on the armband in 2024, under the command of coach Tite.

THE FUTURE IN BAHIA< /p>

Everton Ribeiro did not renew his contract with Flamengo and made his move to Bahia official. The farewell took place last Saturday (06), when the midfielder said goodbye to the club's employees. The number 7 signed a contract with Bahia until the end of 2025, thus beginning a new chapter in his career.

Everton Ribeiro's legacy at Flamengo is immortalized by the trophies won and exemplary leadership. The player leaves a void, but trusts in the ability of the new leaders to keep Mais Querido at the top of the football scene. The move to Bahia represents a new challenge for Everton Ribeiro, who will seek to write another successful page in his career in Brazilian football.

The 1-1 draw between Flamengo and Grêmio in the 22nd round of the Brazilian Championship left Arrascaeta with mixed feelings. Responsible for the Mais Querido's goal, the number 10 gave an interview after the final whistle and acknowledged his frustration with the result. According to the midfielder, defensive errors needed to be corrected in the final minutes, although he celebrated his contribution to the team.

" Unfortunately, we couldn't come away with the victory. We did everything we could, but we ended up slipping away at the end. These are small details that we need to correct. We need to improve for the next game. I always say that I'm happy to help the group, whether with a goal or an assist. That's how it feels. I'm happy about that," he said.

ARRASCAETA REACHES THE 17TH GOAL

The Uruguayan scored after a one-two with Pedro at the edge of the box, in one of the match's most captivating plays. It was Arrascaeta 's 17th goal of the year, adding to his 13 assists this season. He's approaching his 2019 performance, when he scored 18 times and provided 19 assists, a national record.

Throughout the 90 minutes, Rubro-Negro controlled possession and created opportunities to secure a comfortable victory. However, they were thwarted by good saves from goalkeeper Tiago Volpi, defensive tackles, and their own errors. The score remained tight until the final moments, when Grêmio equalized with a penalty kick converted by the opposing goalkeeper.

FLAMENGO REMAINS IN THE LEAD

Despite the draw, Flamengo remained atop the Brasileirão, reaching 47 points in 22 rounds. The team could extend its lead to three points if Palmeiras fails to beat Corinthians in the São Paulo derby. Therefore, Filipe Luís's team is looking to use the FIFA deadline to make adjustments and maintain momentum throughout the rest of the season.

Flamengo director blasts refereeing after draw against Grêmio

The draw between Flamengo and Grêmio at Maracanã, in the 22nd round of the Brasileirão , drew strong criticism from technical director José Boto. In an interview given in the mixed zone, the director pointed out errors by Paulo César Zanovelli's refereeing, which, in his view, would have hampered the Mais Querido's offensive performance.

According to José Boto , the number of fouls called against the team does not reflect their performance on the field. Mengão finished the match with 67% possession and 26 shots on goal, but the referee called 18 fouls against the red-blacks , seven more than Grêmio, who only committed 11.

"I don't think it was the main factor [for the draw], there were many factors. We had a lot of shots, we didn't get them right and the goalkeeper made saves. [Refereeing] It's worrying because it hinders our attacking avalanche. It's not the first time it's happened, it takes away the fluidity of our game and I don't think it's by chance... I don't know, we need to be very attentive to this [about a possible conspiracy]", declared the director.

ARBITRATION STANDARD

Boto reinforced his dissatisfaction by highlighting that the high number of fouls committed against a team that maintained greater offensive volume and possession of the ball would be "impossible" to happen naturally.

"The opponents play with the weapons they have [regarding fouls]. The stupidity is the referee's. It's impossible that we have 67% possession, shoot 26 times, and the referee manages to give us more fouls. That's impossible. A team that has more offensive volume doesn't commit more fouls than one that spends the whole time defending," said the Flamengo director.

DECISIONS THAT HARMED

Finally, the director reiterated that he sees a pattern of decisions that are detrimental to Flamengo: "This is a pattern that has already been verified. It can't happen. The opponents play as best they can and know how. All styles of play are legitimate. What can't happen is refereeing that harms us, disrupts the rhythm of the game . It's not the penalty, it was well-deserved. It's stalling the game, giving cards to our players when they don't even commit fouls. This type of refereeing, which isn't the first time, is something we need to be aware of."
