On the afternoon of this past Sunday (16), Athletico-PR and Flamengo faced each other in the ninth round of the Brasileirão. The teams were only tied at 1-1, however, the duel was exciting. However, for former referee and consultant Rafael Porcari, the penalty that led to the athletic goal should not have been scored.

In the play in question, referee Anderson Daronco did not flag any irregularities. However, video referee Daiane Muniz indicated a penalty, for hitting David Luiz on the arm. During the review, Daronco followed the recommendation and scored a penalty. However, according to Porcari, the decision was wrong.

Through a blog, the former referee explained his point of view: “To be an infraction, you must have the INTENTION of putting an arm […] Then, you check the UNNATURAL MOVEMENT“, wrote Porcari, about the rule for penalties. Soon after, he directed the analysis to the move involving David Luiz.

“The shot is from close range, David Luiz has his arm in a normal position, and tries to remove it so that the ball don’t touch it […] It would be unnatural if the Flamengo player removed his body and left his arm outstretched, trying to gain space for the ball to hit him”, he added.

FLAMENGO PLAYERS WERE NOT LET DOWN< Despite the penalty scored against Flamengo, Mais Querido's athletes did not let themselves be discouraged. At 50', Pedro almost equalized, but stopped after a miracle by goalkeeper Leo Linck. However, the archer was unable to save Evertton Araújo's header, in the 54th minute, which gave Rubro-Negro a draw.
