Former Flamengo coach and current commentator, Silas commented on Pedro's absence in the 1-0 defeat to Santos , last Wednesday (16), at Vila Belmiro. For the second consecutive time, the striker was left out of the list of related players by decision of coach Filipe Luís - a situation that had already occurred in the match against São Paulo, right after the Club World Cup.

At the time, Filipe Luís was straightforward in explaining the cut, citing a lack of commitment in training as the main reason. Pedro, for his part, defended himself to his teammates and in an official statement , but without offering a clear apology for his actions.

Silas on Pedro at Flamengo: "I don't see much of a climate for continuity"

Faced with the impasse, Silas suggested a private conversation between the player and coach to try to resolve the crisis. Even so, the former coach admits he doesn't see a favorable environment for the number 9 to remain at the club.

"Filipe Luís was clear in explaining the reasons, especially when he mentioned the training culture. I would contact Pedro privately to talk. But honestly, I don't see much of a climate for continuity, since his apologies were directed only at the players ," he told Lance.

SILAS PRAISES FILIPE LUÍS, BUT DEMANDS A POSITION ON THE BOARD LEAK

Silas also positively assessed Filipe Luís's start to Flamengo , calling the former full-back's management "excellent." However, he left a demand: that the coach also take a stand on the board's actions, especially regarding the episode involving leaked internal conversations about Pedro.

In screenshots circulated in the press, a Flamengo football department executive revealed his desire to receive a €15 million (approximately R$97 million) offer for the striker. The information bothered Pedro, who mentioned the incident when explaining himself to the group.

"Filipe's work has been excellent so far. But, just as he had the courage to speak out about Pedro, he could also take a stand against the board, which ended up exposing the player with these leaked statements ," said Silas.

FLAMENGO HAS THE SQUAD TO WIN TITLES, BUT THEY NEED TO BE CAREFUL

Concluding his analysis, Silas discussed Flamengo's prospects for the season. The club remains in contention for the Brasileirão, Copa do Brasil, and Libertadores, and boasts one of the most valuable squads in the country.

For the commentator, Filipe Luís's team has what it takes to compete for titles, but needs to stay focused in the face of strong competition and potential surprises along the way: " Flamengo has the potential to be champions. But they can't let their guard down . Besides Palmeiras, Atlético-MG, Fluminense, and Botafogo, RB Bragantino or another surprising team could emerge. And then there are the Argentines, Uruguayans, Colombians... and São Paulo, who know how to play in the Libertadores," he concluded.

Flamengo confirmed that defender Danilo will also be fined internally after his expulsion in the defeat to Bahia, in the 27th round of the Brazilian Championship, this Sunday (5), at Arena Fonte Nova. The club follows an internal disciplinary regulation that establishes different levels of punishment according to the nature of the infraction.

According to the club's protocol, there are clear distinctions between the types of red cards issued: one for a tactical foul is treated differently than one for recklessness, necessity, or unnecessary behavior. Each situation receives a specific penalty level . This information comes from the Coluna do Fla website.

Therefore, the punishment for Danilo , whose expulsion was considered the result of a reckless play, will be lighter , while that of Wallace Yan, expelled for a complaint and a minor assault in sequence, tends to be more severe.

DANILO WAS SENT OFF AFTER 12 MINUTES

In the 12th minute of the first half, Danilo lifted his foot too high during a dispute for the ball and hit Bahia striker Tiago in the face , who had anticipated the play. Referee Rodrigo José Pereira de Lima showed a straight red card, leaving Flamengo with ten men down early in the match.

WALLACE YAN WAS ALSO EXPELLED

Along with Danilo, striker Wallace Yan was also sent off in the second half . He came on in the 22nd minute and was removed from the game ten minutes later after receiving two yellow cards: the first for protesting and the second for hitting Bahia's Gilberto in the face.

As this is conduct considered unnecessary and avoidable, the player will be subject to a higher level of punishment within the club's internal regulations , resulting in a heavier fine.

Player suspended by Filipe Luís must sue Flamengo for moral harassment

Having not played since the beginning of 2025, the defender has been training in isolation at Ninho do Urubu following a decision by the board following a technical veto in the current season.

34-year-old defender Pablo is in a delicate situation at Flamengo. Since the beginning of 2025, he has been training separately from the main squad , after coach Filipe Luís announced that he would not be counting on him for the season. The defender trains at CT Ninho do Urubu, at alternate times, and has not played an official match since the opening games of the Campeonato Carioca.

With a contract valid until December 2025, Pablo was released to look for a new club, but decided to fulfill his contract. The way the release was handled, however, sparked internal discussions and could result in legal action by the player, according to sources close to the athlete.

ISOLATED TRAINING ROUTINE

Since January, Pablo has been following a physical and technical training schedule under the supervision of the medical department and the performance committee. He uses the facilities at Ninho do Urubu, including the gym and auxiliary fields , but without interacting with the main squad.

On social media, the defender has been sharing snapshots of his daily routine, highlighting his resilience and professionalism. Even while on leave, he avoids making public statements about the situation, emphasizing his desire to continue working until the end of his contract.

EXPERTS EVALUATE

The handling of the case has drawn attention from sports law experts. Although the dismissal does not, in itself, constitute a breach of contract, lawyers point out that the player could claim indirect termination if there were evidence of moral harassment or lack of adequate working conditions.

However, as the club keeps its payments up to date and offers training facilities, Flamengo is likely to be legally protected. Similar cases, such as that of former midfielder Zé Roberto at Grêmio, have already been dismissed by courts. The club, for its part, is monitoring the situation but does not rule out a legal outcome at the end of the contract if an amicable termination agreement is not reached.

Racing (ARG) is facing a moment of apprehension before the decisive duel against Flamengo in the semifinals of the Copa Libertadores. On Monday night (6), the Argentine team drew 0-0 with Independiente Rivadavia, but the result was overshadowed by injuries to two important players.

In the 18th minute of the second half, striker Elías Torres , who had been used as an attacking option on the bench, twisted his knee and had to leave the field. Shortly after, starting defender Franco Pardo fell on his own and was carried off on a stretcher , crying, which increased the concern of the Argentine club's medical department.

DATES SET

The Libertadores semifinals will be played on the last two Wednesdays of October. The first match takes place on the 22nd at 9:30 pm (Brasília time) at the Maracanã stadium, with a full house expected—over 60,000 people.

The return leg will be at El Cilindro Stadium in Avellaneda, home of Racing Club , where the teams will determine who advances to the grand final of the continental competition. It's worth noting that the Argentine team had the better campaign, so they will decide the match at home.

FLAMENGO FOCUSED ON THE BRAZILIAN CHAMPIONSHIP

Before facing Racing , Mengão turns its attention to the Brazilian Championship. On October 15th, the team faces Botafogo at 7:30 pm at Nilton Santos Stadium in the 28th round of the competition. The match is seen as crucial to maintaining momentum and confidence heading into the continental final.
