Gabigol is suspended for two years from football after being judged by the Anti-Doping Sports Justice Court (TJD/AD) this Monday (25). The player delayed taking the anti-doping test because he had already started training at Urubu's Nest.

According to Caio Ribeiro, from Rede Globo, Gabigol had already started pre-training when the team in charge of carrying out the anti-doping test arrived at Ninho do Urubu. According to information from the former player, if the attacker agreed to take the tests, this would cause a change in the exam, if Gabriel took it with the other players. To cleanse the body and obtain a clean result, he would have to wait two hours.

Gabigol was instructed by Flamengo's doctor, Márcio Tannure, who informed the employees in charge of carrying out anti-doping tests on the Mais Querido player . The red-black team's doctor warned that, upon arriving at Ninho do Urubu, the red-black number 10 had already started physical work, which would cause a different result.

In addition, according to Caio Ribeiro , there are recordings of Gabigol's arrivalat Ninho do Urubu, in which the center forward started work earlier. In this way, the footage confirms the information said by Flamengo's doctor.

TEST EXAM

Gabigol carried out anti-doping tests, even after the entire situation involving Ninho do Urubu. However, the Flamengo player's attitude when taking the tests would have disturbed the anti-doping officials who were there.

Forward Petterson had his visa regularized and leaves this Thursday (25) for Portugal. Flamengo loaned the 20-year-old player to Estrela Amadora, a team in Portugal's first division. The loan contract between the Portuguese club and Mengão runs until June 2025.

If Estrela Amadora chooses to buy the player, they will have to pay the amount of €750,000 (R$4.4 million ) for 60% of Petterson's economic rights. The information is from Flazoeiro. With 9 goals in 30 games in the 2023 season, the player won three titles in Mengão's youth categories: the Campeonato Brasileiro and the Copa do Brasil under-17, both in 2021, and the Brasileirão Under-20 in 2023. After a During his loan period at Athletico Paranaense, Petterson packed his bags for Portugal.

At the Paraná club, he debuted with a goal, but an act of indiscipline caused him to be removed and no longer play. He even had a new loan to Avaí, which didn't happen. Now he will have another chance to prove himself.

About Estrela Amadora, Petterson's new club

The club finished the last season of the Portuguese League in 14th place, with seven wins, 15 defeats and 12 draws. In the League Cup, the team was eliminated in the first round; in the Portuguese Cup, Estrela Amadora fell through in the fourth round.

The result in the Portuguese Championship, however, was considered satisfactory. This is because the team returned to compete in the local elite after 15 years. The objective was maintenance.

In the new team, Petterson can expect to find many Brazilians among his teammates. The club has names like André Luiz and Daniel Cabral (both ex-Flamengo), Bruno Brígido (ex-Criciúma) and Léo Jabá (ex-Corinthians). Currently the club plays in the pre-season of European football.

The two-year punishment for Gabigol generated strong debate and different points of view on the rigidity of the judgment. To UOL, Ivan Pacheco, one of the TJ-AD auditors, explained how the court reached the final result.

"The penalty is based on the code. All procedural and legal rites were fulfilled. Nobody invented this penalty for Gabigol , there was no special trial because it was him. The rite followed strictly in accordance with the regulations", said Ivan Pacheco.

What happened?

Gabigol and Flamengo say they had were taken by surprise by the punishment. The player will appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).

Flamengo understands that a punishment of this size only happened because it was Gabigol. The club believes that the top scorer gave visibility to the case. In the view of the red and black board, there was no fraud on the part of the player, but rather bad behavior.

Ivan Pacheco explained the reasons that led to a complaint and, subsequently, to the conviction: "The control, the collection of samples, the entire procedure from notifying athletes to sealing the samples and sending them to the laboratory follow an international standard. According to the control officers who collected Gabriel's samples, he did not maintain this standard. They characterized this as an attempt to fraud.".

Other experts consulted by UOL detail a "series of problems" on Gabi's part. A professional who preferred not to be identified highlighted that there was a lack of cordiality, in addition to irregularities in the delay in the collection and the way it was carried out.

Doping professionals classify the case as "unusual". Some even raise the question about what motivated this situation and the way the number 10 acted. The defense's thesis is that it was just bad behavior, in addition to pointing out some inconsistencies in statements during the session. These contradictions involve the team's arrival time at Ninho do Urubu and whether in fact no agent accompanied the urine collection.
