Flamengo was one of the Serie A clubs approached by Sergio Ramos' representatives, in an attempt to bring the experienced defender Spanish to the Brazilian Championship. According to information from the UOL portal, Flamengo chose not to move forward with negotiations due to the high financial investment required to hire Sergio Ramos.
Although the player has been without a club since ending his contract with Sevilla, where he received an annual salary of 2.3 million euros (around R$1.1 million per month), the costs involved in the payment of gloves and salaries continued to be an obstacle for the club's management.
