In the last 10 years, Flamengo has managed to carry out modernization and restructuring work that is the envy of most Brazilian clubs. The base, in fact, went through this process and today Mais Querido reaps the fruits with Garotos do Ninho.
Before, however, the reality was different, and those who lived the day to day life of Rubro-Negro you know that well. Former Flamengo youth coach, who was at the club in the late 90s and early 2000s, Marcos Paquetá, was on the Charla Podcast program, on YouTube, and told how things were in his time.

“We had a field to train. Although it was there in Santa Cruz da Serra, sometimes in Jacarepaguá, it was far away. There was no CT. They were rented fields. Sometimes I had to talk to the owners because I owed money, and the guy ended up being our friend. Things flowed. If we were to compare it with other clubs, we had too much.
But there came a time when we trained behind the goal. I had to train with the professional because I didn't know if the player would be pulled or not to train with the top team, in Gávea. And I started to discover that limited fieldwork helped a lot. So I started working on creativity and developing training in a small space with a huge group of players.”
Marcos Paquetá also spoke about Adriano ImperadorThe former -Flamengo's lower category coach, Marcos Paquetá, revealed that Adriano would probably be released from the club's academy if he didn't change his position. The player began his career in the youth teams as a left-back and played for some time in this role. However, after switching to attack, the athlete's trajectory took off and he became the Emperor.
“He played left-back. He was slow to position, he had to go back and forth. In a certain game situation with another coach, he was placed in attack and started to score goals. From then on, he continued as a striker. He would probably be released (if he remained on the side). The coach has to have the understanding and understanding of testing the boy.

Flamengo entered the field on Thursday night. With a packed Maracanã, Tite's men played the first match of the Libertadores quarter-finals against Peñarol (URU). The objective was to play a good game and take an advantage for the return game, next week. In this sense, the Rio team ended up disappointing the more than 60 thousand paying guests at the stadium and lost 1-0, in one of the team's worst matches of the year.

Peñarol It started well and Peñarol soon showed that it would play on the red and black error. Therefore, the Uruguayans opened the scoring after 12 minutes, with Cabrera, in a counterattack. Soon after, Flamengo responded with Plata's header hitting the post. But the red and black team had difficulty creating chances. In the final stretch of the first half, Flamengo grew and had great opportunities to draw. Bruno Henrique, alone, headed over goalkeeper Aguerre, who also made a great save from Arrascaeta's shot.
In the second half, Flamengo came back even better, but came up against the strong Uruguayan marking and the lack of creativity to reach the opponent's goal. Tite moved the sides, which gave Flamengo more speed, however, it had little effect due to a terrible night from Arrascaeta and De la Cruz. As a result, the result did not change and now Flamengo needs to reverse the situation away from home next week.
