After Flamengo announced that Jorge Sampaoli is not part of the club's plans for 2024, red and black fans began to speculate possible names that could replace the Argentine. One of the most talked about options was Rogério Ceni, who already had a stint on Mais Querido. However, the idea was discarded this Monday (11), when the coach was presented as Bahia's new commander. In his speech, the former Flamengo player recalled his time at Rubro-Negro, recalling titles and praising the players.

Rogério Ceni wore the Sacred Mantle in November 2020, and had a short stint. In July of the following year, the coach was fired after being defeated by Atlético-MG, in Belo Horizonte, 2-1. During his period at the club, he took charge of 46 games, with 26 wins, eight draws and 26 defeats. Throughout his months at Rubro-Negro, the coach witnessed 95 goals scored and 63 conceded.
At Mengão, Rogério Ceni won three titles, as mentioned in his speech this Monday (11). The coach won the 2020 Brazilian Championship, the 2021 Brazilian Super Cup and the 2021 Carioca Championship. On the first day of October, the coach will be able to meet Flamengo again at Maracanã, when the Rio de Janeiro team competes in the 25th round of the Brazilian Championship with Bahia.
Before that, Mengão focuses on the 23rd round of the Brasileirão. Flamengo and Athletico-PR face each other next Wednesday (13), at 9:30 pm (Brasília time), at the Kleber Andrade Stadium, in Espírito Santo. Currently, Mais Querido occupies fourth place in the Brazilian Championship. The club's objective is to overcome the 12-point difference between Rubro-Negro and Botafogo, the current leader of the competition.
