After a first half below expectations, Flamengo showed a notable improvement in the second half, especially after the participation of Luiz Araújo. With this result, the Rubro-Negro team is 15 points behind leader Botafogo and maintains the possibility of leaving the group of the top four at the end of this round. However, as Fabrício Bruno underlined, the team now turns its attention to another crucial challenge.

One of Flamengo's main players in 2024, Gerson has been fundamental under Tite's command. Last Sunday (15), in a 1-1 draw with Vasco, the midfielder scored Rubro-Negro's goal and stood out once again. This year, Gerson leads the list of Serie A athletes with the most minutes on the field since returning from surgery at the beginning of the season.
In March 2024, Gerson underwent kidney surgery due to hydronephrosis, a problem kidney that kept him away from Flamengo for around a month and a half. Since his return, the athlete has participated in all 37 Flamengo matches, in addition to two more for the Brazilian National Team.
