Flamengo beat Bolívar 2-0 in the first game of the round of 16 of the Libertadores, but the result did not shield striker Gabigol from criticism. On social media, journalist Mauro Cezar Pereira criticized the center forward's performance at Maracanã and compared him to Carlinhos.
- Gabigol was a null figure. Flamengo played with almost 10 players. As soon as he entered, there was a move where he started on the left wing and didn't pass to the middle. De La Cruz entered through the center and he didn't pass. He dragged the ball to the end and lost it - said Mauro Cezar.
- In the second half he lost a goal that was offside, he was face to face. Carlinhos was more dangerous than him, forcing Lampe to make a save with his knee. With all his technical limitations, Carlinhos was more dangerous than Gabriel. It's a joke - added the journalist.
Gabigol came on at the end of the first half, replacing Pedro, who left the pitch with pain in his thigh. During stoppage time of the final stage, the number 99 also felt pain in the region and left the field. The return game against Bolívar, in La Paz, takes place next week.
The teams play the first game of the quarterfinals at 7 p.m.

Tite defined Flamengo and announced the 11 starters who will face Peñarol, this Thursday, at Maracanã, at 7pm. De la Cruz returns to the starting lineup in place of Léo Ortiz, and Alex Sandro and Plata were retained. The duel with the Uruguayans is the first between the teams in the quarter-finals of the Copa Conmebol Libertadores.

Alex Sandro and Plata, debutants in last Sunday's classic, remain in the team after having good performances in the draw against Vasco. Gabigol is now out of the relationship due to fibrosis in the posterior muscle of his right thigh. Flamengo, in a statement, reported that the athlete did not suffer any injury in the region. "The Clube de Regatas do Flamengo informs that the athlete Gabriel Barbosa underwent tests that did not diagnose an injury to the posterior muscle of his right thigh. However, the Technical Committee opted for precaution and did not list him for the duel against Peñarol due to fibrosis in the region. Gabi is handed over to physiotherapists and physical trainers for the series of decisive games of the season."
